Chapter 2 : The saviour

Genny took a glance towards the direction from which Cynthia’s voice was coming. In one glance she realized that her mother was indeed embarrassed and angry with her.

Cynthia continues “You should take my advice seriously. You know I am glad at least you have Amy who is capable to continue your legacy.”

Before Patra gave any reply Sicilia splits out “I don’t know what’s wrong with this girl. Why she can’t behave properly? Why she has to embarrass us every time?”

 Patra replied “I am sorry mother. It’s my fault.” Then she came to Genny and told her in whisper “See that’s what you did. Why couldn’t you listen to me?”

Genny “I am sorry it’s my fault. Please don’t be angry with mom grand mom”.

Genny was really very sorry for this. Her mother was publicly humiliated because for her.

She thought about her mother Patra is Cleopatra Winget. Just like the famous queen her mother is very beautiful. Her looks are indeed unparalleled. In her youth she used to be the most desired woman. She had a very long list of admirers. But no one was able to win her heart. Finally, Genny’s father Ralph managed to woo her, they got married. Genny heard so many stories about her mother’s weird admirers and their weird ways to impress her mother.

At that time Cleopatra used to be the centre of attraction. Every occasion in which Cleopatra was present nobody used to pay any attention to other girls. So most the girls of that generation hate Patra. Cynthia is one of them. Moreover, Genny’s uncle Rodney was also smitten by Patra. But She didn’t encourage him. And later she fell in love with Ralph so Rodney had to give up. Then he got married to Cynthia.

Every time Cynthia saw Patra She recalled these things, and her hatred for Patra rose up. Though they are appeared to be cordial and friendly with each other, but Cynthia never missed a chance to publicly humiliate Patra.

Genny became a weak point in which Cynthia could hit Patra. In looks Genny is quite different from her mother. She didn’t inherit her mother’s exceptional beauty. Rather she is quite opposite of her mother.

Patra has rosy complexion, black eyes, shiny black hairs. She is very tall. Even now at this age she still looks so attractive that people can’t take their eyes off her. She looks just regal and enchanting.

On the contrary Genny is short girl with wheatish complexion, black hair and doe eyes. Her looks are very ordinary in comparison with her mother. Moreover, because of her shy and introverted nature she had a very low profile in the society. She doesn’t attend parties and all that so she is quite unpopular among the boys and Catherine has all the attention.

This gave a satisfaction and a sense of superiority to Cynthia and a chance to take a dig on Patra. So she never misses a single chance.

With Cynthia’s loud voice Genny came back to her senses. She heard Cynthia was saying to her “Oh Genny dear why don’t you take some advice from your cousin Cath. Though your mother is there to guide you but she is not from your generation, so you just need someone from your generation to guide you in fashion. Just look at Cath. Isn’t she looking most beautiful and most attractive in this party as she supposed to be?”

Then Cynthia took a look on Genny and said “Didn’t you wear this same gown on Rachael’s birthday party two months ago? Yes, you did. I can clearly remember. Oh dear why did you repeat the dress? If you need some help regarding dressing and your mother was unable to help you why didn’t you ask Cath? She would have been glad to help you.”

Genny was completely dumbstruck. Even she forgot that she wore this dress before but Cynthia remembered.

Genny took a look on her mother and she realized that her mother is really distressed and Genny doesn’t know how she would be able get out of this situation without embarrassing her mother more. 

Then from behind Genny a female voice replied “What if she wore this dress twice Mrs. Winget?”

The voice was coming towards the direction of the hall’s entrance. Everybody turned to that direction including Genny. She saw Patricia was standing on the entrance with her parents behind her.

Genny was very glad to see Patricia. Patricia came towards Cynthia at the same time Cath approached to aid her mother. Because she knew pretty well that her mother will not be able to handle Patricia.

Moreover, Patricia is not an ordinary woman. Patricia is Patricia Williams. Favourite daughter of Williams family. Williams are the richest and most powerful family in the peerage. So, they can’t afford to offend them. Moreover, If Cynthia or Cath offend Patricia it can hamper their future plans.

 Patricia came and stood beside Genny and repeated her question “What if she wore this dress twice?” Genny held Patricia’s hand and whispered “Patty please.” She didn’t want to make a scene here.

But instead of Cynthia Cath replied “Who repeats dress. It’s a disgrace to wear a dress twice in any occasion in our status. Don’t you think so?”

Patty smiled replied “Did you hear about green carpet challenge which is going on now-a-days?”

Cath “Green carpet challenge? What’s that?”

Not only Cath but Genny was also surprised, but she is enough intelligent not to show her surprised expression.

Patty “You pretend to be a fashionista and yet you don’t know about it? What a pity!!!”

Cath was a bit angry after hearing Patty’s comment but she couldn’t offend Patty, so she remained silent. She only frowned.

From the beginning Amy was standing far while watching what’s happening. Amy is Genny's younger sister. Just like her mother is very beautiful.

Amy is wearing a one shoulder black velvet dress with slits upto the thigh on one side, exposing her long well shaped left leg. She's looking quite sensuous. Some of the men present on this party were admiring her and she was enjoying their attention.

Amy must admit that she was enjoying Genny’s harassment and her mother embarrassment. But when Patty entered the scene Amy knew that everything is going to chance in Genny’s favour, because Patty is Genny’s friend. Amy could easily saw that Genny was also surprised but she was hiding her expression.

So, she refuted while approaching Patty “Green carpet challenge? Why nobody knows about it only you two know? Is this so exclusive?”

Patty refuted “No it’s not exclusive but to know about it you just need to read newspapers.”
