We arrived at the Alpha Council in time for me to think more, which wasn’t a great thing. The more I thought, the more the doubt had a hold on me. Levi, Avery, Noah, and I settled in a small seating arrangement off to the side, but I couldn’t sit still. “Excuse me for just a moment,” I said, getting up and turning away. I just needed some air or something. Everything really was too much and I needed to get myself together before it was my time to appear in front of the Council. “Do you want me to come with you, Harper?” Noah asked. Before I could answer, Avery interjected herself. “Oh, leave her alone. If she wants to run off and throw a fit, then let her. No one needs to chase after her.
