***Knock Knock***

“Who is it?”

“It’s me little one. Are you almost ready. We are taking you to school today.”

“What why?”

“We told Derek that we would take you.”

“Your not taking me. Derek is picking me up.”

“Little one please don’t argue with me.”

“I’m not arguing with you Mikey. I’m telling you Derek is taking me.” I say opening up my door

“No he’s not! Look At how he left you.”

“We don’t trust him. He’s no good.” He says

“Don’t you say that about him Mikey! He’s on the same level as you, Lucas and AJ. He’s picking me up that’s final!” I say walking out of my room.

“Hey Siri call Derek!”

“Calling Derek”

***Ring Ring***

“Hello”

“Hey can you pick me up please.”

“I can’t. I’m sorry.”

“Why? You always pick me up.”

“I can’t. Look I gotta go.”

“Derek please. Please come get me. I don’t want be here please.” I say crying.

“What’s wrong? You ok?”

“Crystal what’s wrong?”

“I…I… I just don’t know. It’s fine I’ll figure it out. Sorry to bother you.”

“I’ll be there in 10 minutes.”

“No it’s fine I shouldn’t have called. I’ll see you later.”

I hang up the phone on Derek not letting him say another word. What did the guys tell him?!?! I can take this right now I need to be by myself. I walk into the kitchen with whatever little dignity I have not saying a word to anyone. I’m so angry I know they told Derek something.

“Ms.Abigail can you please get me all of my things for school.”

“Good morning baby girl. How are you feeling?”

“I’m fine.”

“You ready to go little one.” Mikey says grabbing my waist

“Don’t touch me. You have no right. Why isn’t Derek picking me up?”

“Hey guys what’s going on?”

“Look little one I already told you he’s no good for you.”

“That’s a load of bs and you know it Mikey. If I find out you guys told him something, I will never forgive you!”

“Whooooow little one why are you so worked up. Come here.”

“Don’t touch me Mikey. Ms.Abigail can I please have my things.”

“Here you go Miss.Crystal”

“Thank you. And if you think I’m going to school with you guys, you better think again.”

“Princess wait what’s wrong?”

“Nothing I’m fine. I’ll see you later”

I grab all my things including all the homework from the day before and head out the door. I need to be by myself.

“Hey Siri give me directions to the tree house.”

“Getting directions to tree house.”

It takes me 40 minutes to get to the tree house. Originally it was suppose to take 15 but I was walking really carefully and slow so I wouldn’t fall or walk into anything.

I scan my homework with my phone and have Siri help me as much as possible. After what seemed like forever I had to stop. My head was pounding and I felt sick to my stomach. I go lay down on the couch and curl up underneath a blanket and try to take a nap. I’m so tired, my body is exhausted but I’m so anxious and upset and disgusted but overall I’m disappointed. I’m disappointed in myself. Like how was I not able to defend myself. I should been able to fight all of them off by myself without any issues. I’m a queen for crying out loud. I don’t understand. I know I’m weak but I shouldn’t be this weak. I let my tears fall freely. My mind is going a million miles a hour. So many unanswered questions. The more I reply yesterday the more disgusted and disappointed I am.

I hear someone coming up the stairs, so I wipe my face. But they don’t come in, instead they knock. It smells like AJ.

“Can I come in?”

“Yea it’s fine”

“I brought you something.”

“What is it?”

“Stick your hand out”

“What is this. Wait you got me flowers. Are these Sunflowers?”

“Yea. I figured you would like them. I know you want to be alone, so I’ll just go.”

“Wait don’t go. Stay.”

“It’s ok. I’ll leave don’t worry there aren’t any hard feelings.”

“Please stay” I say getting up from the couch, giving him a big hug.

“You sure.”

“Mmmhm. I’m sure.”

“Ok I’ll stay.”

AJ helps me put my flowers in a water bottle so they wouldn’t dry out and we cuddle on the couch.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

I shake my no and just pulls me in. I can hear his heart beat and I can feel his frustration and anger. But I can’t tell him. If he knew the truth I know he would kill every single one of those assholes without a second thought. I’m already having a hard time holding Derek back, and if I add AJ to the mix it would be chaos. Then Lucas and Mikey would get involved and it would really become World War three.

Being in AJ’s arms is relaxing and peaceful. It’s so peaceful that I fall asleep. I can feel my body go limp.

“What the f**k are you doing here!”

“You better watch your tone with me! I’m not in the mood for your shit.Plus I’m not here for you!”

“Watch my tone! How about you f**k off”

***Crash***

“What’s going on? What was that noise? AJ where are you? AJ!” I say panicking

“Hey hey hey-it’s ok sunshine. No need to panic. I’m right here.”

“What was that? Why are you tense? What’s wrong?”

“I’m fine sunshine don’t worry. Go back to bed ok. I just need to handle a couple of things.”

“Handle what things what’s wrong? Wait! AJ who else is here?”

“Hi Crystal”

“Derek? What what are you doing here? How did you find me?”

“I followed your scent. I had to make sure you were ok. Now that I see your safe I’ll leave.”

“Of course she’s safe! Why wouldn’t she be!”

“Wait!”

“Thank you for yesterday!” I say giving Derek a big hug.

“Mmmmphm. Just promise me you’ll stay away from them.”

“If I knew how the other guys looked that promise would be easier to keep. But I’ll say away from Jereme.”

“What do you mean you don’t know how they look?”

“I umm cant…”

“Don’t sunshine we can’t trust him”

“Look Derek… I don’t know the guys looked from yesterday because I can’t see.”

“What! Since when? Wait that’s why you would act weird sometimes, and ask certain questions wasn’t it?”

“Mmmmmhm. My sense are a little stronger with letting me know where I’m at sometimes due to the surroundings but other than that it’s been really hard. So yesterday was a big blow.”

“I’m going to kill him!”

“Does he know?!”

“No he doesn’t.”

“That f*****g bastard! AJ watch her. I’ll be back!”

“No Derek. Please don’t. Let me deal with him. Your giving him what he wants. Let him think he got away with it.”

“But look at what they did to you. I heard your screams and saw first hand how they left you!”

“I know I look like crap but it’s part of life and unfortunately I need to get over it. We all do.”

“That’s fine but right now I need both of your help. Mrs. Wagner gave me a lot of homework to do but since I can’t you know see I can’t do it properly and I’m really struggling.”

“Isn’t she the b***h that went off on you.”

“Yeaaa plus she got me suspended yesterday which is why I couldn’t go to school today.”

“Yea but it wasn’t my fault I swear.”

“It’s ok sunshine. I’m not mad just impressed. Look at you turning into even more of a bad ass.” AJ says in a little chuckle

“Whatever. So can you guys help me”

“Of course sunshine come here.” AJ says pulling me in for a hug

The three of us get to work and I do what I can but Derek and AJ are doing most of the work.

“How did you expect to get all this done if you can’t see. If you don’t mind me asking?”

“Well AJ helps me most of the time and Ms.Abigail helps me too.”

“Who is Ms.Abigail?”

“She’s my head maid.”

“Ooh your omega”

“Kind of. I don’t like using those titles it makes me feel a certain way. If it was up to me we wouldn’t have titles.”

“Because we are all human so deserve the same shot as everyone else.”

“Ugh! Fine! Derek what type of paperwork do you have over there? Better sunshine.”

“Better” I say giving AJ a smile

“Um I have stuff on the ancient pyramid of Pisa, then something about a five page paper on King Tut”

“What the hell we haven’t even gone over any of this. Let me see yea”

“We have Pisa, king Tut, the Chinese Emperor of 60 B.C. What the hell is she doing? Ok your not doing any of this.”

“No AJ I need it done. I’m already in big trouble. Please”

“No sunshine. We haven’t covered any of this material and if I remember the syllabus correctly non of this is on here.”

“Wait. Why would she do that?”

“I don’t know. But did you turn in the other homework assignments?”

“Yea I did. I turned them in yesterday before we got into that stupid argument.”

“Ok let’s just hope she actually kept it and is grading it.”

“Aw man. This is one hell of a way to start a school year. What do you guys think?”

“I say that’s an understatement. Iv never done so much homework in my life and I barely even did my own.”

“Your funny AJ.”

The three of us sit around laughing and semi enjoying each other’s company. AJ was still throwing digs at Derek here and there but he dodged them nicely. No body will find out what happened. I need to train harder and learn how to fight on my own if I want to survive in this world that is ruled by men. I mean a female out doing a man especially a alpha or royal is not heard of but a blind female doing it, we’ll that is historical. I’m going to change the world and make sure I give a voice to those who need it. I’ll be the change.

“Thank you for calling Wing Express how can I help you?”

“Hi can I place an order for delivery”

“Sure what can I get you”

“Let me get 2 boneless Mango Habanero, 2 boneless Honey Barbecue, 2 bacon cheese burgers with extra bacon and can you make it extra crispy?”

“Yea that fine. How many boneless do you want for each order?”

“Let me get me get 20 of each chicken and two pops.”

“Ok your order is $135. Will that be cash or card?”

“It will be cash.”

“Ok we will be there in 30 minutes.”

“Ok thank you. Drop off the food at the usual spot.”

I go on our tree house porch and listen to nature. I can hear the grass hopers chirping, the breeze going through the tree leaves; it’s all peaceful and relaxing. I wonder how the moon and stars look. I bet it’s beautiful.

“Order for Gonzalez.”

“Up here.”

“Ooh hi. Um I have your order miss”

“I’m coming give me a sec. AJ, Derek I need your help please.”

“What is it sunshine?”

“It’s a surprise. Come on use your nose.”

“She got food stupid!” I hear Derek say

“ How much do I owe you?”

“ Whoa it’s you! You really are prettier up close. Not that you weren’t pretty from far away. I mean your…”

“Watch yourself there, one wrong word and your going to lose that tongue of yours.” AJ retorts

“Ignore him, he’s just hungry. But thanks, I think. Hi I’m Crystal what’s your name?”

“Thats a nice name. I’m Ben, it’s a pleasure to meet your acquaintance.”

“Wait your Ben from school right?”

“Yea. We have most of our classes together.”

“Yea I remember you. Who would of known.”

“Well I’m going to take this and you two can continue your flirting.” Derek says

“Nope. Neither of you guys are touching my food!”

“Wait why?” I hear both AJ and Derek say in unison

“Because the two of you need to work together in order for the three of us to work as a team. And until then non of you get to touch my food.”

“Come on sunshine don’t be that way.”

“No AJ. You two have been bickering for the whole day and I’m fed up. We literally have bigger issues on our hands then you two fighting on whose d**k is bigger.”

“What you laughing at delivery boy! And it’s not a competition because my d**k is way bigger.”

“First of all don’t call him that. He’s got a name and it’s Ben ok AJ. And secondly we all know my d**k is bigger! So are you two done bitching and complaining?”

“Fine!”

“Then hug it out, fist pump, nod it out; I don’t care just fix it!”

“Truce” I hear Derek say

“So we good?”

“Yea we are good”

“Good. Ok here you go Ben. AJ, Derek take the food please.”

“Yes ma’am.”

“Here’s your change Crystal.”

“Oh no keep it.”

“But it’s over $100 including tip.”

“I know. Well I gotta go but I’ll see you at school. Bye”

I make it up the tree house and I hear the guys goofing off. I take a seat next to AJ and I know he’s tense but it will be ok. Everything will work out. We all talk and laugh together. AJ and Derek came to the agreement that AJ will walk me to class everyday and Derek will pick me up on the days where AJ had to stay for practice and I had to promise to wait for one of them after school. They made it very clear that I wasn’t allowed to be alone anymore.The clock strikes 9 pm and we all decide to go home.

AJ and I walk threw the woods. We even ended up racing back to the house at the end. I won since I made it home first but I also think he let me win to be nice.

“YOU GET YOURSELVES IN HERE NOW!”

We hear a loud growl as soon as we walk in the front door.

“WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU TWO BEEN!?” I hear my uncle Lucas yell

“AJ I told you, one more screw up and you were done. I’ll deal with you later. Go to your room now!”

“But…”

“I SAID NOW!” My uncle Lucas growls

He’s beyond pissed. I feel it. The house wants to tremble. Iv never felt him this way before.

“What are going to do just stand there or are you going to speak!”

“Lucas easy there. I know your upset but I know there’s a valuable explanation, right baby girl.”

“It’s ok baby come sit and explain to us why you got suspended.”

“Don’t baby her Xavier! She wants to act like an adult we will start treating her as one.”

“Didn’t I tell you to go to your room!”

“Don’t talk to her like that she has more than enough on her plate. Look at her. She’s shaking and ready to have a panic attack. We literally just calmed her down and your going to set her back with all your yelling. It’s ok sunshine.”

“I’m sorry AJ it’s my fault. This is all my fault.”

“I can’t. Iv tried uncle Lucas. I tried so hard and nothing seems to work. I’m sorry I’m so sorry.” I say with tears rolling down my face

“I-I-I can’t see” I whisper with my head lowered

“I can’t see uncle Lucas.”

“Wait so is this why your grades dropped and your training has been off.”

“Mmmhm”

“You really we’re fighting blind.”

“And you knew. You knew and kept all of us out of the loop! You should of told us AJ!” My uncle Lucas yells

“No please don’t. It’s my fault I gave him direct orders not to say anything. Plus he’s been helping me a lot with trying to get my grades back up.”

“Does anyone else know?”

“Yes. Ms. Abigail and Derek know.”

“Ha that’s why she always took you things and picked your cloths out.”

“Does this have anything to do with what happened to you last night?”

“No I don’t think so. I did my best to hide it.”

“Did they hurt you?”

“Do you know who it is?”

“I know one of them but there were a couple of them that I didn’t recognize.”

“Was it Snake!?”

“No it was his off spring.”

***CRASH***

“No uncle Lucas please no.”

“Hey it’s ok princess I’ll be fine. That asshole is going to pay for what he did.”

“No uncle Lucas please. Please don’t go!” I say wrapping my arms around him

My uncle was going to make sure Jereme paid for what he did to me. Blood will be shed tonight.

I hear the doors burst open and I hear a rain storm followed by loud growl and thunder.

“Uncle Xavier you need to go get him please.”

“Shhh it’s ok baby girl it’s ok.”

“Noo noo no. Uncle Lucas!”

“Let me go. I need to go get him”

Uncle Xavier pulls me into his chest and I’m fighting his grip with everything I have. I fall to the ground and cry in his arms. I can’t believe I let this happen. My uncle is doing his best to sooth me when we hear everyone running downstairs but I hear AJ telling to them stay upstairs and my uncle Xavier giving them a warning.

After a while I’m carried into my room and laid in my bed. I’m all cried out; I’m mentally done. I can’t take anymore. My body is beat. All I want to do is lay in bed.

***Knock Knock***

I don’t answer; I don’t want to see anyone right now. I turn my back towards the door and pretend I’m sleeping hoping that who it was would leave me alone.

“Princess are you sleeping?” I feel my uncle sit in my bed. He was all wet but didn’t smell like blood which is good

“I’m so sorry princess. I should if known. I know seen the signs. All I did was scold you and punish you when you were doing your absolute best. How did I not see it. All the signs were there.”

“Please forgive me my queen.”

“It’s ok uncle Lucas. It’s not your fault.”

“Princess I thought you sleeping.”

“I was but I was worried about you.”

“Come here princess.”

It’s been a long time since my uncle has hugged me this tight. I was starting to forget what it was like a little.

“Please don’t ever do this to me again you hear me. You tell me when things like this happen.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to be disappointed in me and you already have so much on your plate I didn’t want to add anything else. I’m sorry uncle Lucas I’m really sorry.”

“It’s not your fault princess. Non of this is your fault.”

“Uncle Lucas can we tell the others please.”

“Sure only if you want too.”

“I want too but I think we should do it tonight before school tomorrow.”

“Ok princess whatever you want.”

My uncle wakes everyone up telling them that we all have to meet in the living room. I can feel the confusion in the air plus the stinky breath.

“Thank you everyone for meeting me here I know it’s late.”

“What’s going on dad?”

“Love what’s going on?”

“Well son, there’s been a um a problem that has risen but it doesn’t change a thing.”

“What’s going on?”

“Well umm… I don’t know how to tell you all but…”

“I’m blind” I blurt out

“What?” I hear Lu say

“Since when?” I hear Mikey question

“It didn’t happen over night. It was a gradual thing that faded within time. I first noticed issues after the beach party. But the more I tried to keep it and the more I wore my glasses thinking it would help but it didn’t.”

“So you didn’t see my science project?” Sam asks disappointed

“No I didn’t and I’m so sorry Sam. I really tried to see it. But I felt every single part of it. Every piece you put together I felt it.”

“It’s ok sis don’t cry. I know your trying.”

“Wait was that the party with the vampires?”

“Yea why uncle X?”

“Lucas do you think?”

“It’s possible but that means time isn’t on our side since it’s been about a month.”

“We have to try though.”

“Ok but if it doesn’t work then you know where it will lead too.”

“Baby girl did you by any chance get bit by a vampire or get cut by one?”

“I don’t know. May be why?”

“See when a mature vampires blood mix’s with a non mature one it causes issues if not treated properly.”

“Here princess drink this.”

“What is it?”

“Drink it first and tell me how you feel.”

“Mmmmmm. It’s really good uncle Lucas what is this.”

“Human blood with a mix of animal”

I spit out whatever I had in my mouth out. I can’t drink that. Artemis will get hooked and will start hurting people. My uncles calm me down and explain how it will help Artemis heal and help ease her thirst. It could also potentially bring my eye sight back because if it doesn’t I’m going to be sent away to Transylvania since now technically speaking I’m a full Lycan and need to be trained by some of the best vampires to enhance my vampire skills.

I finish my cup and we are all sent to bed except for AJ, Lu and Mikey.

I want to cuddle tonight. I need hugs. Just like that I feel like my brothers hear my thoughts and crawl into my bed and cuddle with me.

“It will be ok mamas. We got you.”

“Yea sis your not in this alone. We got your back.”

“That you guys.”

I feel like weight has been lifted off my shoulders. They all know what’s going on and uncle Lucas has an idea of what happened yesterday. He’s not dumb. I feel bad for Jereme and his family though because they are going to find out why my uncle Lucas is feared in the Midwest. With that last thought I drift to sleep semi peacefully.
