Jamil

1300 Words
It’s finally the weekend and I smile cuddling up into my soft pillow sighing softly. No one has texted me and I have a free Saturday. I open one eye looking for Adrian but he was probably already downstairs when my eye catches another human body in my bed. I jump up screaming to see a frighten Jamil looking back at me. I glare at him as he smiles sheepishly at me. “I didn’t want to wake you. You’re so cute sleeping.” “What are you doing here?” I grumble as he lays back down on the bed next to me. “Didn’t I tell you this was my weekend or did you guys ignore me.” “Well, the girls are out shopping and knew you didn’t want to come and the boys are at the park playing football, which I didn’t want to do because why play on my off day makes no sense.” He rambles on making me smirk. He totally went over my question. “Well the girls already tried to invite me, and maybe you need a little more practice.” I tell him as he turns to me with a look. “You don’t play, so you wouldn’t know, Flower.” He says before sitting up. “But I decided every time I try and hang with you alone we get interrupted.” “Maybe that’s for the best.” “It’s not. I need alone time with my bestie.” He smiles pulling me into his arms as I smile back at him hugging him back. “Fine, I guess we can hang out, but we may have to take Adrian with us.” I tell him as he nods excitedly. “Even better! We are basically a family now.” He exclaims as I shake my head giving him a disbelief look. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.” I take a shower and brush my teeth after Jamil leaves my room finally giving me peace and quiet. I pull on some khaki shorts with a purple tight shirt nodding in approval as I match it with my purple Toms. I run down the stairs to see Adrian and Jamil watching tv. I sit beside them sighing. “I think it’s best if we just stay in the house.” “Your grandmother just left for work so we could.” He says smiling before smirking. “Or we could get some vitamin D.” “Eh, I really hope you’re talking about the sun.” I roll my neck turning to Adrian who was glued to the tv. “Maybe we could go to the park.” “Park.” Adrian exclaims hopping out of Jamils lap and getting his shoes. “I guess we are going to get that vitamin D, and this time I’m talking bout the sun.” — “So have you lived here your whole life?” I asked Jamil and he nods. “Yeah my parents moved here after my older sister was born so we have been here ever since.” He explains. “The boys and I didn’t become friends in elementary or anything. Well except for Samuel and I, we knew each other since pre k then Lucas and Reuben joined our friend group in middle school and Travis joined two years ago.” “That’s cute.” I giggle. We were currently on the mission to the park. Adrian were a few steps ahead of us because he claims he knows the way. “It’s crazy, but even though you say you’ve only known us for a week, it seems as if we have known you forever. The girls always talk about you and shown us videos.” “Really?” I ask surprised. “I didn't know that, hopefully nothing embarrassing.” “Yeah, but getting to know you in real life is even better.” He smirks. "A lot of it was embarrassing." We finally reach the park and Adrian runs onto the slides part of the park. I sit on the bench as Jamil follows suit and we watch Adrian run around and play. “So is the father Joe?” “What! No. Adrian isn’t mine. You obviously don’t listen to me.” I scowl him as he pouts. “He’s my baby brother I’ve raised him as if he was mine.” “Well you never specified that he was your baby brother.” He exclaims as I shrug. “I know but it was fun to scowl you like a child.” “Oh so you went to bother Alex I see.” We turn to Lucas as he sits next to me. “What are you guys doing here?” “We are watching Adrian play.” Jamil says pulling me into his arms as I raise an eyebrow. “Adrian? That’s your baby brother that you’re raising right?” I give Jamil a look as he slouches. “Yes he surely is.” “We are playing football if you want to bring him over to the field and we play with him. Maybe teach him a little something.” Lucas suggest making me smile. “Sure. Jamil need practice time anyway.” I joke standing up. “Adrian.” “Not true.” Jamil grumbles as Adrian runs towards us. I take his hand as Lucas brings us to the open field where I see the boys as well as other boys I recognize from the football team. “Alex!” Reuben waves as I wave back. “Come on.” Lucas takes Adrian hand and he follows him towards the other boys they hand him the ball showing him how to hold it as if his tiny hands could actually hold the ball. “Hey.” Samuel sits down beside me nodding at Adrian. “looks like he’s going to be playing soon.” “I doubt that.” I laugh as he smiles and I lean back. “Sorry for interrupting you guys game.” I tell him. “There was no interruption. We were going to take a break anyways.” He says leaning back as I look over him instantly regretting it. I have to admit I was totally drooling over him. He was shirtless and I have drilled this image into my head. “You can take a picture you know.” Samuel jokes smirking as I mock laugh. “I think I have it in here.” I tell him pointing to my temple mentally slapping myself. Why did I just tell him that. “Oh do you?” “That’s not what I meant!” I exclaim folding my legs in front of me as I see a twinkle in his eye as his smirk grows wider. “Really? What did you mean?” “I’m going to stop talking now.” I say as he chuckles. “I’m just messing with you Alex.” He says cooly winking at me. “What are you two doing? This was suppose to be our day.” Jamil whines sitting in front of me. Samuel playful eyes turns hard as Jamil sits with us. Samuel really acts as if he hates Jamil. “Go away.” Samuel grumbles as Jamil pouts. “Why do you hate me.” He whines scooting over to Samuel . He scoots away from him as he leans into my lap. “Oh so you rather hang with him than me!” “Um.” I shrug running my hand through Samuel loose curls. He inwardly moans as Jamils eyes widen as Samuel looks over at him with a glare. “I won’t say it again.”
