Bed

2026 Words
I packed Adrian and I a little bag of clothes knowing that Nate would be here in less than 30 minutes. “I can take off work so you can have alone time.” My grandmother smirks as I shake my head. “It’s not like that. He knew I wouldn’t leave Adrian anyway.” I tell her as she nods kissing my forehead before heading to work. I take Adrian down the stairs putting on the television to keep him occupied for the time being so that he wouldn’t be too fussy while waiting. “Hey.” I open the door to a knock smiling at Nate. “You ready?” He ask as I hand him our bags before going to pick up Adrian and turn off the show. “Yes.” He get to his car as I put Adrian in the back putting his seat belt on. “I hope you have toys.” “Oh that’s the one thing I don’t have.” — We arrive to his rather large house as I stare in awe. Well the guy did say his father had a successful college career until he got hurt, but that also means after college was even more successful. “Come on.” He tells me as he already had Adrian and our bags in his arm. We walk up to the house as he swings the door open and immediately head for the stairs. “He’s not scared of dogs right?” “No I don’t think so.” I reply as he opens the door and a big golden and black German shepherd Appears in front of us. “Doggy.”Adrian hops out of Nate arms and on the dog petting him softly. He barks loudly at Adrian before curling up around him. “Wow, Pesto Hates everyone who isn’t me or my father.” He laughs setting our stuff down before sitting on his large bed. It was bigger than my king. How. “Come here.” I walk towards him as he pulls me to sit on his lap. “So are we going to be typical high schoolers and be up all night or am I going to actually get sleep?” I ask him smirking as he laughs. “You can get your beauty sleep baby.” I look over to see Adrian actually asleep on Pesto making Nate laugh. “I’ll pick him up.” He sets me on the bed picking up Adrian as Pesto walks up to be resting his head on my lap. I rub my hand through his fur waiting for Nate to come back. I lean back into the bed as Pesto follows curling up on the side of the bed that was against the wall. I follow behind taking off my pants and the cardigan as I continue to comb through his fur. This was honestly so relaxing. “Hey.” “Hi.” He removes his shirt and gym shorts before getting into the bed. “I put him in the room next to ours. It’s connected through the bathroom so it’ll be easy to get to him.” He says wrapping his arms around me. “Good. It’s been awhile since he’s slept alone.” I tell him. “So why are you basically raising your brother?” He ask as I shrug. “Well.” I mumble as he pulls me up close to his face. “My father died a couple months after my brother was born so my mother kind of neglected us for a couple of months and put everything into work. But I also think there was a postpartum depression mixed in with that. Anyways ever since that I’ve been taking care of him when I wasn’t in school.” “So does he call you mommy?” He ask as I laugh. “No he calls me Ale. Even though I took a mothering roll, he should know I’m not his mother.” I shrug. “My mother left us a couple years ago, well more like three years ago, half way through my freshman year. She was the best but worst mother in the universe.” He says laying on his back and pulls me so I was cuddling the side of his body. “Do you know why she left?” “No. She just up and left one day.” He explains pulling me tighter. “She was bipolar and had a drug problem. She had good and bad days. I kind of took care of her while my father worked. I don’t hate my father for it because he gave us everything we asked for, but it was a burden I didn’t want on my shoulders.” “Well, she could be out there getting help for herself, you never know.” I try and explain as he nods but doesn’t seem to be buying it. “She could be. How’d your dad pass?” He ask more than likely not wanting to talk about it. “Oh.” I feel as the tears threaten to leave my eyes but I hold them in because it made no sense for me to cry. Yes it still hurts but maybe talking about it would make me feel better. But then again I just might cry. “He had cancer and didn’t catch it until it was in the last stage.” “Sorry for asking.” Nate sits up taking me with him as he wipes my tears. “No, I’ve never really talked about it. It’s weird because you would’ve never thought he had cancer.” I smile telling him. “He was the livest person ever the complete opposite of my mother. It’s funny because he was in the military fought in a damn war and he died from f*****g lung cancer.” “Crazy how life it right.” Nate smiles softly as I laugh. “Yeah.” I sigh dunking at him. “Thank you.” “Thank you?” He ask kissing me making me smile. “I did nothing baby.” “You listened to me.” I tell him pulling him slowly as I lean in kissing him. I’ve never felt like this. This happiness, comfortable and free. Yeah my story wasn’t horrible or something that would change me for the worst but it was something I’ve kept on my chest for a while and never shared. He pulls me so I’m straddling him and the ‘I’m not opening my legs for anyone anytime soon.’ Flew out the window. I feel his hands trail down my back and trail up under my tank top. His hands move to the front right under my breast as I shudder away as he breaks the kiss smiling. “Sorry I’m too handsy.” He says laying be back down as he lays with me. “You tired now?” “A little.” I smile as he wraps his arms around me. I cuddle into his body as I drift off to sleep. —- “Ale. Ale. Ale.” I feel a small hand push at my face as well as another hand trial up and down my back. I open one eye and catch Adrian and Nate. Adrian was wide awake while Nate still had his eyes closed. “Adrian where’s the doggy?” I ask as he leaps up from between us and goes liking for Pesto. Nate moves closer as Adrian leaves. “Wake up.” “No.” I try and sit up but his heavy and muscles arm kept me down. I stop struggling because I knew that me fighting wouldn’t work. “Adrian will find Pesto soon and keep him occupied so let’s enjoy this.” We lay together for a while and I continue to skip in and out of sleep as we do so. I sit up as Nate arm drops from around me. Wow he is still knocked out. I leave his room and try and find Adrian and Pesto. I walk down the stairs where I hear Adrian talking loudly and see that the back door was open. “Adrian, What have I said about wondering around outside?” I ask walking outside. “Um I don’t think he understands that concept.” I turn almost screaming out loud as I glance to see an older looking Nate with a smirk on his face. “Ah you’re the mystery girl that has my son smiling again.” “I-Uh hello my name is Alex.” I nod blushing. “Sorry for being in your home without you being here.” “I’m Ted, and you don’t have to apologize for anything sweetie. My son doesn’t like many people and he likes you so you’re good in my book. Oh and also you have no pants on.” He laughs as I feel my face get even redder. “Go on, I’m watching him. Pesto really likes him.” I walk back up stairs bumping into Nate rubbing his eyes. “Hey. I was going to look for you.” “I just embarrassed myself in front of your dad.” I whine as he looks taken back before laughing. “Baby. Baby it’s okay. He knows about you.” He hugs me walking back into the room. “Yeah, he surely does now.” I grumble pulling out shorts from my bag. I slip them on sitting in the bed. “Don’t worry. We have more embarrassing stories. You in your underwear is not even the top of the iceberg.” He laughs as I sigh. “Fine. I need to get Adrian fed.” I stand up as Nate follows me down the stairs. “Ale.” Adrian jumps into my arms as Pesto jumps on both of us but Nate catches me before I fall on my ass. “Alex I made his some food.” Ted smiles before Daps-ing Jake. “I’m going to head to sleep.” “Night.” Nate smirks before wrapping me more into his arms. “What you wanna go today?” “Let’s go back in bed.” I smirk as he raises an eyebrow. “We gotta watch Adrian.” He says as I pout. “Okay so when he nap, we nap.” I nod making him laugh. “Sure, I guess we can do that.” I put Adrian back down as he walks off with Pesto. This will be so hard to leave Nate house because of the dog. “Go eat and maybe I can show you some football moves.” “Football moves?” I smirk. “I’d rather not, I think you need more practice.” “What? It makes sense since Adrian will obviously get into it.” He exclaims. “Wait, I need more practice? Excuse me!” “Uh, I don’t think so.” I laugh as he turns me around and corner me in the kitchen. “Nate?” “You don’t think I can beat you in my own game?” “No, I would totally win.” I smirk as he raises an eyebrow. “Please don’t tell me I have to get the guys over here to form teams.” He mumbles as I nod. “Oh yeah. You call them and you tell them that we are playing to see who is the is best.”
