I didn't react in time, and Quinn was almost on top of me.
Leo, who was sleeping, suddenly let out a loud snore and rolled over.
Startled, Quinn quickly picked up her clothes and put them on. She gave me a flirty look before crawling back into Leo's arms.
I suddenly woke up fully, and after the primal desire faded, all I felt was disgust. 'Does she think I want her body? Ha, she's overestimating herself.'
I wondered what Leo would think if he knew. Quinn had cheated on me before, so it wasn't surprising to think she would cheat on him now. She treated herself as a commodity, using love as a bargaining chip.
A lot happened in the first half of the night, but the second half was relatively peaceful. By the time I woke up, it was already morning, and the rain had stopped.
Compared to yesterday's heavy rain, the bright sunshine improved my mood. I stretched, washed up quickly, and walked out of the cave. After the heavy rain yesterday, I wondered what it was like outside now.
The food in the cave was gone, so I had the remaining fruit for breakfast.
By this time, everyone was awake, discussing what to do today.
The cave was too cold at night, so we decided to gather some grass to spread on the ground. This task was relatively easy and was assigned to the girls.
Leo and I, being men, were responsible for hunting and finding food for the day.
Due to his poor performance these past few days, Leo didn't boast as he usually did. He just sat in the corner, casting resentful and sinister glances at me.
"It's getting late. Let's go," I urged Leo impatiently, who was still dawdling.
Leo grumbled, "My leg hurts. I can't go. You go by yourself." He lay down again, leisurely warming himself by the fire.
I crossed my arms, looking at him coldly. "Fine, if you don't want to go, then don't."
Leo, thinking I was afraid of him, looked even more smug. "Smart move."
"Just catch a few wild chickens today," Leo ordered, hands behind his head.
"Do you still want to eat chicken?" I sneered, "I can save some chicken poop for you."
"If you're not going hunting because your leg hurts, then don't eat anything. No one can intercede for you," I said, glancing at the girls.
Even Stella couldn't stand it. "Leo, weren't you fine yesterday? Why does your leg hurt again today?"
Leo, who had some respect for Stella, put on a pitiful expression. "It was too cold last night. My leg got chilled, and it hurts too much to even walk this morning."
Stella looked at me with a troubled expression.
Watching Leo's poor performance, I found it amusing. I wanted to kick him out, but Leo was a man, and kicking him out would make him a potential threat. Desperate people could do anything.
While I wasn't afraid of him, the girls might be.
Tired of arguing with Leo, I decided to go hunting alone and left the cave.
But after a few steps, I heard Mandy calling me.
"Zack, wait for me. I'll go with you!" Mandy ran over, but I noticed her beautiful brows were furrowed as if something was bothering her.
We hadn't walked far from the cave when we saw the coastline. The forest where I'd caught the chicken before was now completely submerged by the sea, with only some tall trees, tree trunks and canopies above the water. Yesterday's situation had indeed been dangerous. If we had been slower, we might be dead now.
I walked around the cave to check the surroundings, but I hadn't gone far when Mandy suddenly asked seriously, "Zack, are you hiding something from us?"
I was taken aback. What did she mean? Had she heard my conversation with Quinn last night? Remembering Mandy's jealous look, I hastily tried to explain. I couldn't let her misunderstand the situation because of that disgusting Quinn.
Just as I was about to speak, Mandy took out an ID from her pocket and handed it to me. "What's this? Did you find it on the body by the sea yesterday?"
Seeing the ID, I felt uneasy. It must have fallen out while I was sleeping, and she picked it up.
Since Mandy had already discovered it, I reluctantly recounted yesterday's events.
Mandy's expression grew more despondent as I spoke. Her usual cheerful smile vanished.
"How could this happen? Even the rescue team is in trouble!" Mandy quickly sensed something was wrong, her pretty face clouded with worry.
"Mandy, don't worry too much. Maybe it was just an accident. We'll get out of here." I tried to comfort her, but I didn't believe my own words.
Where were we, exactly? Why hadn't the rescue team arrived, and why were they in trouble? It had almost been three days since our shipwreck, which should be a national news event. Yet, everything was eerily quiet, which was perplexing.
"Don't tell the others about this, Mandy. Let's search the island for other signs of the rescue team. If we find them, we might find a way out." I placed my hands on her shoulders and said.
Mandy nodded reluctantly. Then she hurried towards the sea, dragging me along.
I knew she wanted to find clues about the rescue team, but I wasn't hopeful. Even if there were clues, yesterday's heavy rain and rising sea levels probably washed them away.
However, when we reached the submerged forest, we made a surprising discovery. Some small animals were trapped in the treetops above the water, likely unable to escape when the tide came in.
These animals would normally be hard to catch, but now they were stranded on treetop "islands," making them easy prey for me.
I quickly took off my coat and handed it to Mandy. "Mandy, hold my clothes while I go catch them."
I swam hard towards the animals and soon threw two wild chickens and a rabbit onto the shore.
Mandy used the rope I found on the rescue team to tie up the struggling animals.
I brushed the mud off my hands. "These animals will provide us with a feast for several days."
But Mandy didn't hand me my clothes. Instead, she looked me up and down and nodded approvingly. "I didn't know you had such impressive abs! Just my type."
I coughed, feeling teased. I couldn't let her always have the upper hand. "If you like them, feel free to touch."
I expected her to call me a pervert, but she touched my abs.
"Nice feel too." Mandy's eyes gleamed mischievously. "You better keep it up."
I swallowed instinctively.
'Is Mandy interested in me?'
