Chapter 43

876 Words
In the distance, Sam and his men were grilling a wild chicken, laughing and chatting. Their voices echoed through the silent valley. "Sam, when are we going to kill Zack? I won't feel at ease until that brat is dead!" Leo said, tearing off a piece of chicken and eating it greedily. "Just wait. Zack and his people will be gone sooner or later," Sam said, biting into his meat with a sinister expression. "Don't worry. I hate Zack too. We have the same background, yet he always showed off in front of me, acting superior. He claimed to help me, but he just wanted to show off his abilities to the boss. He was a coward in front of others, but he always played the big shot with me. I've had enough of him." Hearing this, I was furious. 'Did I ever need to show off my abilities through you? What do you even amount to? I helped you out of goodwill, and this is what I got in return? This ungrateful b*stard thinks everyone is as treacherous as he is!' "Sam, you know him well. Zack is just a loser." Quinn let out a soft hum, snuggled up to Sam, and wrapped her arm around his, looking at him with a face full of admiration. "Zack bullied me before, Sam. You have to avenge me," Quinn said, shedding a few tears. Leo chimed in, "Zack is a beast. He almost r***d Quinn before." "And all the women with him are b*tches. They sided with Zack and blamed Quinn." Leo looked indignant, and when he got particularly angry, he punched the air forcefully. Sam, Leo, and Quinn were truly a bunch of scumbags. My sadness at the betrayal was now replaced entirely by anger. 'I must have been blind before, but today I'll take back what I lost! I'll get it back with interest! There's no justice in the world unless you enforce it yourself!' I took a deep breath and aimed my gun at the valley below. Among Leo's group, the women were not a threat. Of the three men, Leo was a piece of sh*t, and Sam, though lean, wasn't much of a threat either. The only one that concerned me was the muscle guy. He carried a stone axe on his back, and the head was as big as a human skull. If hit by that, I'd be seriously injured or worse. So, I planned to take him out first. Though the nights were dark, the moonlight was bright tonight, and the campfire lit their faces clearly. It worked to my advantage. "Stella is also stranded on this island. I've always thought she's stunning. We should catch her and..." Sam laughed, giving a knowing look. "Don't worry, after I've had my fun, you guys can have her too! See how it feels to conquer Stella." "Sam, great choice! Stella's body and looks are amazing." "That woman is so proud. It would feel great to make her submit." Walter, the muscle guy, quickly chimed in, also letting out a laugh. "Once we kill Zack, their camp will be full of women, powerless and weak. We can do whatever we want!" Leo said with a lewd smile. Sam took a sip of spring water and smiled confidently. "I've got another plan. When they let their guard down again, it'll be the end for Zack!" "No wonder you're our leader, Sam. You're a genius!" Walter flattered him. My eyes narrowed, focusing even more. Soon, the opportunity came. Just as the muscle guy finished talking, he lowered his head and began eating voraciously. When he ate, his head barely moved, making him a perfect target. Without hesitation, I pulled the trigger! A loud bang echoed as a deadly flash of fire erupted from the gun barrel, and the bullet shot out with a roar! The bullet went straight through the muscle guy's head, creating a bloody hole in his shiny scalp with a loud bang. His eyes instantly went blank, and he fell into the fire pit with a thud. Leo and Sam were in the middle of their triumphant conversation when the muscle guy's blood and brains splattered onto their faces. Everyone was frozen in horror, their eyes wide open. The women started screaming frantically, their piercing cries echoing through the night and startling the birds in the forest. Sam and Leo reacted quickly, diving behind rocks for cover. They pulled out handmade bows and arrows, scanning for my location. On this deserted island, these were powerful weapons, but they were no match for my gun. Unfortunately, my gun wasn't a state-of-the-art automatic rifle. If it were, I could have mowed them all down in one burst. That would have been truly satisfying. Sam quickly figured out my position from the bullet's trajectory. With a fierce look, he and Leo drew their bows and fired arrows in my direction. I had anticipated that Sam would have some counter-surveillance skills, so I had already chosen my next ambush spot. Using the rocks on the hillside as cover, I moved to my next position, dodging their arrows. Hiding behind a large tree, I raised my gun for a second shot. This bullet flew straight towards Leo's head.
