Chapter 45

"I'm not the kind of person you think. Stop it!" I coughed a few times and took two steps back, my face serious. 'These two women are acting like I'm some kind of bully!' I knew very well that if I gave the word, these two women would throw themselves at me. But if I accepted, how would I be any different from scumbags like Sam and Leo? "I can take you in, but our camp has rules," I said sternly, glancing at them. "You have to follow my orders, and everyone must work, no slacking off. Betrayal is something I can't tolerate," I said sharply. "Traitors will end up like Leo." I pointed at Leo's corpse, emphasizing each word. They nodded frantically. Then I softened my tone a bit. "Don't worry. As long as you follow the rules, you won't go hungry." Seeing that I was serious, the dancing girl sighed in relief and sat down heavily, moved to tears. She thanked me and started crying out of shame and fear. Crystal, however, looked at me with a resentful gaze, as if upset that I hadn't taken advantage of her. 'This woman is so slutty.' The reason I decided to bring these two women back was to have more labor in the camp. We were busy searching for supplies and building a boat to leave here, so we needed all the help we could get. Of course, their status would be lower than the others in the camp. Any good resources would be given to others first. To put it bluntly, if we faced a danger we couldn't handle, they would be the first ones I would abandon. I learned that the dancing girl's name was Susie Wesley. I told them to get dressed and help me gather the supplies in the camp. After a thorough search, I was overjoyed. Not only did I retrieve the things we had lost, but I also found the supplies Sam and his group had collected! They had hidden our salted meat and their own gathered supplies in an underground pit. I had to admit that Sam indeed had some good ideas. It was an excellent way to store food, slowing down decay and preventing the scent from attracting wild animals. But now, all of this was mine. With all these resources, we wouldn't have to worry about surviving the winter. It put me in a great mood. Without the constant struggle for food, we could focus on building the boat. With some luck, we might leave this island soon. Of course, I knew it wasn't the time to daydream. I had stayed in this camp for too long. I had heard wolf howls, and the strong scent of blood would likely attract wolves soon. So I quickly gathered the women, and we packed up as much as we could carry and started back to our camp. We couldn't take everything in one trip, but we could return for the rest tomorrow. By the time we got back to the camp, it was completely dark. Stella and the others had been worried sick. Seeing me return safely, Mandy and Zoe were in tears, hugging me tightly. Mandy even cupped my face and gave me a deep kiss. I patted her back soothingly. "Don't worry, I'm back safe and sound." "Zack, we were so scared!" Zoe rested her head on my shoulder, tears streaming down her face. "We thought you..." "If you do this again, I'll find a way to punish you!" Mandy said, red-eyed and glaring at me. Stella was also angry, giving me a sharp look and turning away in a huff. But Eva was missing. Seeing my puzzled expression, Mandy quickly explained, "Eva went out looking for you. She took a weapon, so don't worry." I knew Eva was skilled and familiar with the wild, so she was unlikely to encounter any danger. "Everyone, stop crying. I have something good to show you!" I smiled, pointing to the entrance of the cave. To my surprise, the girls looked at me in confusion. I turned and saw Susie and Crystal coming in. "No wonder you don't care about us. You've got a whole group of pretty girls hidden away. Tsk tsk! If I were you, I'd be having the time of my life!" Crystal said sarcastically as soon as she entered. Crystal's sense of morals was highly questionable. She assumed other women were as promiscuous as she was. She probably thought Stella and the others had slept with me. I didn't want her to ruin my relationship with the others. "Stop the nonsense!" Zoe's face instantly turned red, almost like it was about to bleed. Her delicate earlobes turned crimson, making her look particularly adorable. She quickly slipped out of my arms, lowering her head but sneaking glances at me. Hearing Crystal's words, Susie, who had almost performed a strip dance earlier, also became embarrassed. Her face flushed as she remembered dancing seductively with Crystal in front of me. "Crystal?" As the president of the company, Stella knew Crystal. Her work performance was average. She spent her days flirting with the men at the company, managing to secure a decent position because of it. Stella had heard the rumors and knew what kind of person Crystal was. She had planned to fire Crystal after the group outing. Unexpectedly, they ended up on this island, and she met Crystal again. Seeing me with Crystal, and having brought her back to the camp, Stella was not pleased. Stella gave me a cold look, glanced at the blushing dancing girl, Susie, and sneered, "Did you stay out so late because you were fooling around with these two women? We were so worried about you!" Hearing Stella's words, Mandy and Zoe also stared at me, clearly wanting an explanation. I felt my head pounding. "Stella, can you stop jumping to conclusions? Here's what happened. I just…" Seeing the unfriendly looks of the women, I wiped the sweat from my forehead and quickly explained the recent events. Of course, I left out the part about Crystal and Susie dancing seductively to lure me. 'Bringing two women back already made Stella furious. If she knew they were trying to seduce me, it would be chaos!' When the girls heard that I had just killed Leo, their expressions softened noticeably. Mandy even clapped her hands and said, "Finally, that bastard is dead. We should have a drink to celebrate!" Stella, standing nearby, nodded slightly. When she heard that Quinn had run into the forest alone, her fate uncertain, she lowered her gaze. I could tell right away that Stella's heart had softened again. She was worried about Quinn. I sighed helplessly. This girl was so naive. She might seem tough, but she was the softest at heart. When Stella heard about Sam, she sighed. Her eyes turned red, and she looked at me more gently. She even spoke up for me, which was rare. "Sam is such a jerk! You've been so good to him, and he wanted to kill you?" I forced a bitter smile and spread my hands toward Stella, unable to say anything. Sam's betrayal had indeed hurt me deeply. "Are you... Are you okay?" Stella moved a little closer to me. I lowered my head and sighed in frustration. "I just keep thinking, am I that annoying? Quinn betrayed me, and so did Sam. Is it my fault?" "No! How could it be your fault?" Stella's eyes widened, and she immediately threw herself into my arms, hugging me tightly. She mimicked my actions, patting my back gently and comforting me softly, "You're great. No, you're amazing!" After saying that, as if afraid I wouldn't believe her, she hesitated for a moment before quickly kissing me on the cheek. Her face turned crimson, but she continued bravely, "I like you, for real!"
