Chapter 19

538 Words
Leo stared at me in shock, frozen like he'd seen a ghost. "Zack... I'm sorry!" When Leo saw my cold gaze, he couldn't help but shudder. He started to stutter, taking a step back. His injured leg gave out, and he fell hard to the ground. Rage filled my mind. My eyes were blood-red, glaring at Leo like a predator. He was terrified and crawled up to kneel in front of me, begging for forgiveness. I grabbed a bamboo stick from the wall and swung it at his head. Leo screamed and covered his face. My next strike landed directly on his hand. His arm, as pale as a woman's, immediately swelled up. Leo let out another piercing scream and started begging, "Stop, Zack! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" I ignored him and kept hitting him with the bamboo stick, the sound of it cutting through the air like a storm. Leo curled up on the ground, squealing, his clothes shredded and his body covered in purple bruises. Mandy saw me back and, after her initial surprise, was furious. "That b*stard deserves it!" she spat, clearly fed up with Leo. No one tried to stop me this time, not even Quinn, who just cowered in shock. Given my anger and the fact that he declared me dead, they quickly realized Leo had set me up.  Just then, Stella returned from outside the cave. Still upset about the earlier incident, she yelled, "You jerk! Stop it right now! First you spied on me, and now you're beating someone up?! Will you stop only when you've done every bad thing?" Seeing Stella scold me without knowing the situation, I didn't hold back either, especially since I was already angry! 'I just looked at you once, and it wasn't on purpose! What's the big deal? There are plenty of women everywhere; why do you think you are so special?' "I hit him for a reason. Why do you assume I'm wrong? Why didn't anyone else stop me? You're here making accusations without knowing anything! Do you know he pushed me into a trap and I nearly died? What's a beating compared to that?" I explained coldly. Stella's expression changed, her sympathy for Leo turning to anger. "Leo! How could you do such a thing? Are you even human?" she fumed, her chest heaving. Realizing she wrongly accused me, she looked ashamed and fell silent. Ignoring her, I picked up the bamboo stick and continued hitting Leo until it broke. Leo's screams weakened, and he lay on the ground like a dead pig. "Please stop, Zack! If you keep hitting me, I'll die. I'll do anything you want. Just stop!" Leo's demeanor was more pathetic than a dog's. Quinn watched him from the side with utter disdain. She couldn't believe how cowardly Leo had become. The thought that she used to be involved with him made her feel like she must have been blind! I didn't care what others thought about Leo's begging. I tossed the broken stick aside and picked up a shovel, smashing it into Leo's head. With a loud crack, his head split open, and blood gushed out. Leo went silent, his eyes rolling back as he lay motionless.
