Chapter 30

This girl usually acted so proud, but now she was lowering herself to beg me. She was clearly fond of this cub. "Alright, let's keep it for now and see if we can train it. Maybe it can help with hunting in the future," I sighed. Stella's pitiful look softened my heart. Besides, while hunting recently, I deeply felt the inconvenience of not having a hunting dog. If this wolf cub could be successfully tamed, it would greatly aid my hunting efforts! Seeing the girls' ecstatic expressions, I added a warning quickly, "But if this cub shows any aggressive behavior, I'll kill it immediately." Stella nodded eagerly, her eyes squinting with joy. In her excitement, she even kissed me on the cheek. I felt a surge of emotion and was about to make a move, but she ran over to the little wolf quickly and didn't look at me again. She stroked its small white body and even named it "White." I sighed helplessly. And so, days flew by in a blink. One morning, I discovered that it had snowed heavily outside, turning the whole island into a silver-white world. Fortunately, we had finished making fur coats in the past few days. The girls and I wore thick animal skins, so the cold no longer threatened us. With warm clothes, they could go out to gather food, which greatly increased our food supply. Mandy and Eva found a kind of vegetable similar to potatoes in the nearby frozen soil. Combined with salted fish and wolf meat, it made for a delicious stew. Everything seemed to be going in a good direction. The only thing that troubled me was Quinn's return. This time, she didn't come to me but went straight to Stella, who was soft-hearted, pleading to stay. Seeing Quinn shivering in thin clothes in the snow, Stella was worried that if we ignored her, she might freeze to death outside. Stella came to me, pleading on Quinn's behalf. Quinn promised in front of everyone that she would not cause any more trouble. Seeing the girls had forgiven her, I agreed to let her stay reluctantly. My new discovery on the island left me no time to deal with Quinn. The deeper I went into the island, the warmer it seemed to get. We all agreed that there might be a volcano on the island! It eased our minds a bit. If we couldn't survive the harsh winter, moving deeper into the island might be a good option. "Our top priority now is to check out that crashed plane wreckage," I said loudly by the campfire. "There must be a lot of supplies, and they could be very useful." "Yes, we should find a lot of metal plates. We can use those metal parts, cut down some trees, and make a raft to go to sea!" Mandy said excitedly. Honestly, the thought of leaving this island someday made me feel a bit reluctant. Life on the island was hard, but having the company of these girls made it enjoyable. My relationship with Mandy had stabilized, and life was quite pleasant. If we left the island, I probably wouldn't have such a charming experience again. However, this thought was fleeting. Who would want to stay on this godforsaken island forever? I had to go back! However, I noticed Eva and Quinn seemed a bit distracted. Quinn, who had always been eager to leave, was unusually quiet this time. Since Leo's death, my relationship with Quinn had improved a lot. Though it could never go back to what it was, she behaved well and worked hard, so I treated her like a regular employee. While we were discussing our plan to explore the plane wreckage the next day, Quinn spoke cautiously, "I'll stay behind to guard the cave tomorrow. I don't have any skills, so I don't want to be a burden." I didn't want to take care of her on the way, so I agreed. The next day, the weather was great. We laughed and joked as we headed towards the plane wreckage. Unlike the girls' joy and excitement, I was very alert. Fortunately, nothing happened on the way, and we reached the wreckage easily. The plane wreckage lay tilted among a few large trees, covered in vines and moss. Many parts of the plane were embedded in the tree trunks, with bird nests on the fuselage and small animals and insects crawling over it, creating a lively scene. "This plane isn't from our rescue team! It's clearly been here for decades. It shows signs of long-term erosion. But the plane is relatively advanced, so it shouldn't be from World War II," Eva said in a low voice. The longer I stayed on this island, the more I felt it was shrouded in a mysterious fog, hiding some extraordinary secrets. "Eva, can you tell me what kind of plane this is?" I asked, turning to Eva. I had noticed her acting strangely the night before, and I wondered if she was hiding something from us. "This plane is covered in moss, so I can't tell its model. Let's climb into the cabin and see if we can find anything," Eva said calmly, glancing at me. I asked Zoe and Stella to wait while Eva and I climbed up the trees to the cabin entrance. The area had become a haven for moss, insects, and snakes. The metal parts inside were overgrown with plants and rust. Unwilling to give up, I used my military shovel to search through the debris and plants, eventually finding a few intact metal plates. Every piece of metal was a valuable resource for us. Even rusty items, with some polishing, might still serve an important purpose. I felt like dismantling the entire cabin and taking it all back, but that wasn't practical. Our manpower was limited, and we couldn't carry much. Moreover, time was short, and hunting was our priority before winter set in. As I was rummaging, I heard Eva call out, "Zack, come over here!" I looked up and saw Eva had entered the cockpit. I hurried over to find Eva struggling with a metal table that looked like a control panel. "Hand me the military shovel. This panel is well-sealed. There might be usable metal parts or even radio equipment inside!" 'Radio equipment? If we find it and fix it, we might be able to contact the outside world!' I handed her the shovel quickly and moved closer. The cockpit was cramped, so I had to press against Eva's back. Unlike many foreign women who wore heavy perfume, Eva had a faint apple scent, which was refreshing. Like Stella, Eva had a fiery temper, so I didn't want to provoke her. I held my breath, trying to distance myself from Eva, but the cockpit was very cramped. As I turned, I couldn't avoid pressing tightly against her. I had to admit, she had an amazing figure. Her firm buttocks just happened to press against my sensitive area, causing an embarrassing reaction. Eva glanced back at me, her eyes showing not anger but a different kind of expression. I sighed in relief, cleared my throat, and explained awkwardly, "It was an accident!" Eva gave me a sultry smile, hooked a finger under my chin, and said, "Tell me the truth. Was it an accident?" I was mesmerized by her smile and stared at her speechlessly. Seeing my reaction, Eva laughed even more and turned to face me, brushing a few strands of hair across my face. "I'm not mad, so what are you afraid of?"
