To my relief, the Bone Swords' special vibrating effect worked just as well on the giant spider. After a few strikes with the Bone Swords, the creature's exoskeleton began to crack, and fragments of its armor fell to the ground. The monster let out a shrill, agonizing screech—it was the first time I had ever heard a spider make a sound. The noise was so unpleasant that I never wanted to hear anything like it again.
One of its legs was now missing large chunks of its shell, and the creature took a few steps back, no longer attacking with the same ferocity. It circled me cautiously, its large green compound eyes fixed on my every move. Clearly, my Bone Swords had frightened it.
