After thinking it over, I decided that Selina must stay on the boat. Jocelyn hesitated for a moment but ultimately agreed to my request. She decided that the three of us—me, her, and Kougami—would dive, while Selina and the others stayed on the boat to assist us from above.
I insisted on leaving Selina on the boat because I was worried that those on the surface might cut the rope securing me, or worse, not pull me back up. In that case, I would have no choice but to return as a vengeful ghost.
Early the next morning, we set out in the small boat once again. It wasn't long before we reached the same area of water where I had dived the previous day.
We donned our diving suits, carefully checked our equipment, and once everything was confirmed to be in order, the three of us dove into the
