'Is it another mirage?'
I took a deep breath, my hand on the trigger. Just as I was about to shoot, I heard the shadowy figure shout excitedly, "It's me! I finally found you!"
'It's Jenny's voice.'
Her appearance left me a bit frustrated. I had thought Eva and I had a chance to ditch Katherine, but now we ran into Jenny again! Wasn't she behind us? How did she end up ahead of us?
I didn't have much time to think. Jenny had already run up to us. One look at her told me she hadn't had it easy either. Her clothes were torn to shreds, her beautiful silver hair was wet, and she had fresh blood stains all over her. She was limping, with a bandage wrapped around her thigh.
"What happened? Where's Professor Scott?" Katherine's face darkened as soon as she saw Jenny in such a state.
