Brooklynn woke on Saturday morning to the sound of her phone ringing. She sat straight up, wondering how late she’d slept, but the clock said it was only seven-thirty. Her heart beat rocketed around in her chest. Was something wrong? She grabbed her phone off the nightstand and flipped it over to see the call was from Delaney White. “She can leave a message,” Brooklynn said as she lay back down in bed. But she was awake now, and she wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep. The butterflies in her stomach testified that she’d be seeing Dave in just a few hours.
