Madison Beep. Beep. Beep. My limbs ached as the harsh weight of unconsciousness lifted and I tried to open my eyes, but they were too heavy. The incessant beeping of what sounded like a high-pitched drum was in my ears, even and repetitive. I heard voices around me, talking and whispering as if they didn"t want me to know what they were saying. It was like a blanket was covering me, numbing me from the burning pain I"d felt before. How much time had passed? Where was I? I realized the beeping in my ears meant that I was in the hospital. I hated hospitals, always had. But I didn"t have the energy to dwell on it; not when I knew what was waiting for me when I finally woke up. The voices seemed to get closer the longer I lay there, desperately trying to reach out to the man I knew was
