Chapter Four Phoenix slept poorly, tossing and turning for the better part of the night. His conscience bothered him as much as his leg. He’d heard Sierra come in, her steps light as she entered the adjacent room. He’d imagined her curled up on the uncomfortable futon, and his conscience nipped at him again. Not because he’d displaced her from her bed, but because his imagination had lingered on what she’d been wearing. He tossed the covers back. He needed to apologize to her. He’d leave out the part about his wayward imagination and concentrate on his rude behavior from the day before. He found Sierra on the private deck of the resort.
