Chapter Five
Since his arrival at Seaside Haven, Phoenix had been up each day by dawn. He’d felt more rested the past few days than he had during the past several years. This morning he couldn’t claim to feel the same. Phoenix had slept sporadically when he’d slept at all. That was because his appointment with the doctor was today. He didn’t want to believe that nothing more could be done when it came to his recovery but it was a good possibility that this physician would tell him the same thing all of the other physicians had. The same stifling sense of defeat that had defined his life for the past three months settled over him.
