Chapter Five

ISHANA: After telling my family that I loved them, I turned and headed back to the house. I needed to erase every single proof of wonder’s existence. They do not need to know what she looked like yet. After clearing up her remaining things, I packed up all the pictures that she was present and threw them into the fireplace watching them burn. I did a final check to make sure that every evidence had been gotten rid of. Satisfied, I headed out to join the men. I was a little nervous at Levi’s reaction, but I knew that he wouldn’t tell on me, or so I thought. I stepped out of the house, slowly closing the door. Heavy footsteps draw my attention and I turned around, taking in the number that was obviously headed in my direction. Ten or more warriors of both my pack and the Royal army. In front were the courtier, my alpha, the Lycan kings and, of course, Beta Levi. I stand erect, preparing to shift if it comes to that. “To what do I owe this lovely visit from such prominent individuals, my kings,” I bowed. “Where is she?” I raised my head to look at the person that had asked the question. It was Alpha Ismail, he looked to be rather on edge. “Where is who please,” I tried my best to feign ignorance. Alpha Ismail's face turned a deep red, his breath coming out in puffs, signifying he was about to lose his temper. It is obvious that Beta Levi hadn’t snitched on me, and for that I’m most grateful. “Where is your daughter?” The courtier asked calmly. I looked at him and allowed my gaze to take in the two Lycan kings beside him. They were both taller than the courtier, with defined cheekbones and strong jawlines, couldn’t really make out the color of their eyes in the dark though. “I don’t know, she is not here.” I finally replied. A loud growl from one of the Lycan kings vibrated around us. “Guards! Go in there and drag her out. I do not have all the time in the world.” One of the kings said, whom I later found out to be King Spade. Three men of the Royal army march forward, shoving me to the side, they enter and start ransacking the entire house. After a few minutes, they stepped out. “There is no one at home. There’s no evidence that suggests that a child, male or female lived here.” One of the three men stated. “We will ask you again, where is your daughter?” Spade asks in a dangerously calm voice. Again I replied, shaking my head, “I do not know.” “Very well.. seize him!” The moment I have been waiting, as soon as the soldiers start walking towards me, I shift into my wolf and take off. My wolf was the fastest in my pack, I wasn’t sure that would be the case against the Royal army but I didn’t care to know. I just needed to distract them and give my family enough time to escape. As I was running at full speed, heading towards the front gate, a force hit me and knocked me off balance. I slammed into a tree, feeling some of my ribs fracture. I get up almost immediately, determined to continue, when I felt teeth sinking into my neck. Ash howled out in anguish, the pain forcing me to shift back. As I was being dragged away, I could only pray that my family hadn’t heard the howl of pain. I was dragged to the center of the town, to where the platform is. I see everyone standing around. The young girls to the left, all clustered together frightened. My pack people to the right, some watching with anger obviously those whose daughters have been chosen. “Ishana, warrior second in command of the Red cloud pack, has committed a grave offense by refusing to surrender his daughter as was requested of him by the Lycan kings. And as the alpha of this pack, I hand him over to the Lycan kings to do whatever they so desire.” Alpha Ismail passes the verdict. Stepping forward, king spade nods to his men and soon I am brought to my knees, hands held together behind my back by a silver chain. My head is forced down, baring my neck. I see a pair of boots step to my left side, heard a sword being drawn from its sheath. “Let this be a warning to everyone that thinks that they can cross us and get away with it. Learn from his mistake, all of you!” King Spade thunders. I closed my eyes, a faint smile on my lips. As I heard and felt the sword being raised high up slicing through the thin air, I let out a satisfied sigh, glad that at least my family was safe and far away. Suddenly there was a loud growl and I felt everyone around me shift away. I looked up to see a huge wolf biting down on the man that wields the sword. I watched in horror as the hand that wielded the sword detached from his body, accompanied by a scream of anguish. My heart sinks when I finally realize whose wolf that is. Bloom. All my hope that my family was somewhere safe, somewhere far away from here, was dashed away by this reckless act of hers. What was she thinking of coming back here? Standing in front of me, Lila her wolf growls at everyone. Turning around, she nuzzled my neck, and at that moment, she gave her back to the enemy. King spade was quick to react first, shifting only his hand and sinking his claws in her neck. I watch helplessly in horror as she struggles, whimpering as she is easily overpowered. Her blood starts dripping out at where the claws are embedded in her neck and I stiffen, watching as everyone gasps and the king’s eyes widen in surprise and fascination. “What the hell are you?” He asks her. But that is one secret we had sworn to carry to our graves. While all individuals, werewolves or Lycans had crimson red blood, Bloom’s was a light shade of blue. Having no other reason but to attribute it to the circumstances surrounding her birth, we knew well enough to hide this from everyone. “Stop! I want her, she is rather fascinating," a voice says from the platform. Finding the source, I feel bile rise to my throat. Seeing the oracle up close, there was nothing but a dark aura and evil vibes around her. I shudder at the thought of what she would do to Bloom. She would most likely conduct those experiments that I had heard of. “Very well then, she is all yours” King Spade says as he retracts his claws and lets go of her neck. Lila drops down and shifts back to a naked bloom. “I’m so sorry, Ishana,” I hear bloom’s weak voice through the mindlink. “It’s okay love,” I tried to assure her. “Wonder is with my birth mother and they’ve crossed the pack border,” she informed me. I sigh in relief but tense up as I feel claws dig into my chest. Realizing it was Spade, I turned to bloom. “I love you bloom, now and forever. Live for me, live for our baby girl,” Hearing bloom let out an earth-shattering scream, I closed my eyes and welcomed the darkness, my last thoughts on my baby girl, as he pulled my heart out. BLOOM: I screamed in horror as I watched life get taken from my mate. I know I was reckless and had acted based on my emotions without giving as much as a single thought to Ishana. At that point, hearing his wolf’s howl, I couldn’t resist going back to save him. I had seen the look of defeat in his eyes when he recognized that I had returned. Now not only was I not able to save him, I have caught the attention of the evil Oracle, only the heavens know what she plans to do with me. At this point I would rather die, but remembering my mate’s last words, I can’t bring myself to end it. If only I had listened, this situation would have been avoided. Now Wonder will learn to live without her parents in this cold world. I’m glad my birth mother is there for her. She hadn’t been around while I was growing up, had been in denial of herself and the situation she had been in. But I wouldn’t wish for any other person to be by my daughter’s side but her. As the mate bond is finally severed, I give in to the pain, letting it drag me into an endless pit of unconsciousness.
