Chapter Seven

Donna’s pov. I could feel my little queen’s shock at the title. Looking at the alpha, I could see the pain and hurt in the depth of her eyes. The anger was justifiable for it was better to be angry than to show pain, it leaves one feeling vulnerable. I had hurt her, undeniably with my reckless actions and I hadn’t bothered to apologize to her nor to give my own side of the story. I had left her high and dry. My Ex-Mate. Honestly that had stung a little, the way she had said it, filled with disgust like I was some dirt. Once upon a time, I had been her world, someone she was willing to go against her parents for. To forgo her title for. Seeing as she had embraced her mother’s stupid traditions, to me it was her way of lashing out. Back then I hated the queen’s way of life, was happy when Charlotte had agreed with me. Resolving to abolish it and instead focus on training the women more for combat. Witnessing this now, I could only curse myself for being so stupid. It was not my fault though, I was a great warrior at such a young age. Defeated so many men, protected my pack. I was made the general of my pack. I was proud, took my title seriously, defended the throne. Charlotte and I fell in love, dated a while before we agreed to move it to the next level, she had wanted to be the one to bear our children and I take over the alpha position. On that fateful day, I had gone to see her mother the queen to ask for her blessing. That was when I knew what she thought of me. Being a lowborn, she didn’t see me fit for her daughter, her eyes held so much contempt that I nearly doubted myself. I was so shocked that I thought it was a dream. Yes my mother was a low-born but I had worked so hard to try and rewrite my.. our lives, to wipe out that class from our lineage. Leaving the pack house nearly in tears, angry at the queen, at the entire pack most especially at myself for being such a fool. Here I was ready to lay down my life anyday to protect my people but they didn’t see it that way but instead they saw a lowborn. I shifted I ran into the forest. I had run for hours before I eventually stopped by a stream to drink. I sat down and enjoyed the nature for a bit before I saw him. Remembering him now, he still took my breath away. He had smelt neither like a werewolf, a Lycan nor a human. He had the same eye color as Wonder, a shade darker, with red hair. He ran his fingers over my fur when he came close enough, Making my wolf purr, I was completely at ease with him. He had commanded me to shift and I did with no hesitation which surprised me. He wasn’t my mate, that I was sure of but his touch had sent shivers down my spine and moisture between my legs. He devoured me with such skillful patience that left me panting for more. As he slowly sank into my honeypot I was a moaning mess. His tempo had been animalistic, driving into me at such a delicious pace, I had scratched his back so hard that I knew I drew blood and left scars. After climax, he had held me close uttering a sentence that left me confused. “It is accomplished.” I fell into a deep slumber wondering what he meant. Waking up in the morning, he was gone. I had quickly dived into the stream, scrubbing off any remnants of last night before dashing back home, realizing along the way that I didn’t know his name and I hadn’t remembered to ask. Few weeks later I had found out that I was pregnant. The news spread like wildfire. I was mocked but I didn’t care about them, only one person mattered to me aside my mom in the pack. I raced over to the pack house to try to reason with her but on more than two occasions I was not let in. The third time, I had caused a commotion that drew the queen out. Standing in front of the door she had told me how dirty I was, that charlotte didn’t want to see me. Obviously I had confirmed her words with my reckless act. She told me that her daughter didn’t need someone like me, turning around I ran and left everything behind, not bothering to explain to my mother or kiss her goodbye. I wandered from place to place, surviving. The day I finally went into labor, I had been chased by some rogues, but was rescued by a pack’s beta and his family. The wife helped me through childbirth and I had left my child in their care. I had watched her grow, contrary to what people thought, although I lived a nomadic lifestyle. Through that lifestyle I was able to meet the Oracle who told me everything about the prophecy. Taking a deep breath, I focus on the woman few feet away from me. “Listen Charlotte, I’m not here to argue with you on how you run your pack, that’s your business..” “And what are you here for…” she snarls. “We are just looking for a place to lay our heads for a few days before continuing our journey.” Her eyes finally takes in Wonder standing beside me. “And who is that? You do not dare turn your back on the Alpha, child!” “It’s my fault, I turned her around to avoid the scene from earlier. She’s too young for that.” I watch her mouth twitch slightly, wondering if it was from anger or amusement. Slowly Wonder turns around, bowing slightly she says, “greeting Alpha, my name is Wonder Dunes, I mean no disrespect.” “Is she your family?” Charlotte asks, her eyes narrowing on me. Keeping my face expressionless I reply. “No, her family entrusted her to me as an apprentice.” I felt Wonder stiffen beside me, willing myself not to look at her, I fix my gaze on the Alpha, noting how she relaxed at my reply. “Very well, and what shall we gain in return?” I furrow my brows in confusion, then suddenly realizing what she meant, I crack a smile, “I shall train your warriors.” “And what makes you think that we need you” “Oh I’m definitely sure that you do.” I said, my smile still unwavering. “Fine, you will be given the privilege to train the siren pack warriors in exchange we shall harbor you,” she scoffs. Suddenly there’s a knock on the door, and at the command to come in, the door open to a warrior that I have never met before. She moves to the center of the room and kneels few feet away from the alpha. “Alpha i bring news” “Speak!” “There are some men from the Royal army here to deliver a message from the kings,” I feel my blood cold, the little girl standing beside me starts trembling. “Hmm that is unexpected,” the alpha states, leaning back in her throne, her calculating gaze on me. I keep my face as straight and bare as possible. “Where are they?” “They are still at the entrance gate alpha,” “Let them in,” At the gate, so that gives me 10 to 20minutes to think up something to prevent any misunderstanding. “Alpha, may I be excused please, will like to visit the powder room,” Wonder requests. Joy fills my heart, proud that I had such smart granddaughter. “Of course you may, Lucia accompany this young lad,” I watch as she leaves the room with Lucia. Turning back to Charlotte, I see her studying me. “You arrive here and suddenly the Royal army is here too, how coincidental do you think?” “Hmm indeed,” was all I could say, knowing she was baiting me. A knock on the door was heard, it opened to reveal the warrior from earlier and two hefty men. One had an ugly scar which ran from right top of his head crossing the right eye and stops beside the left side of his mouth. Their bare chests were littered with scars. They didn’t bother to kneel, only nodded their head and handed the scroll to the pack warrior that came in the room with them. She collects the scroll and hands it to the Alpha. She unrolls the parchment paper and scans the content before folding it back. “We have not received any such girl here recently or even ever,” “Are you sure?” The one with the ugly scar asks. Charlotte flinched like she had just been slapped. “Of course, a girl with a purple hair and weird looking eye color will definitely not be missed in the crowd now would she?” She asks, glaring at them. They didn’t seem fazed by her anger. “There will be grave consequences for anyone who harbors the child. Whoever shall feel the King’s wrath” “Get out of my pack now!” She yells, suddenly losing her cool. They shrug and turn, leaving the way they came. She massages he temple, something she does when she’s stressed. “I want you to teach my warriors everything you know, Everything!” “Yes Alpha.” I smirked at the turn of events.I knew that makeover would come in handy.
