Long ago, humans and the supernatural lived in peace under the old King Richard’s rule. Ruling beside him was the Alpha of the shifters and the King of the Fae.
As the old man came to his end, his son, Alexi, took over; a man who’s thirst for power consumed him passed any logical sense. His first command after taking the thrown was the banishment of any and all supernaturals and were to be killed at first sight. He sealed this declaration by slaying the Alpha and Fae King were they stood.
War raged for months, until the supernaturals chose to flee and maybe fight another day. Many lives were lost in that war both human and supernatural, peace to never be found again.
*25 years later*
5 years after the supernatural had fled, King Alexi had married and produced a daughter. Her eyes bluer than the spring Jay’s feather, hair the color of copper, and a smile that brought warmth to the coldest soul.
Despite growing up without a mother and having an abusive father, the daughter remained kind and the people of the kingdom loved her.
On her 20th birthday, the princess took a walk through the forest, following the way of the wind until she came to a waterfall. Without hesitation the princess stripped her clothes and let the freedom of the water wash away any worry that she had been holding.
When the princess surfaced from under the water she was face to face with the most handsome man she had ever seen. No words were spoken.
After awhile, the princess moved to get out of the water. The mystery man grabbed her hand, sparks shooting up her arm, and spoke only 2 words, “Your name.”
“Sarah.” The princess replied. She quickly gathered her clothes and rushed away.
Days and weeks pass, and each day Sarah returns the falls in search of the man who has flooded her every thought. She began to think it was all a dream
How could I be so foolish to not ask his name? She thought.
As she made her way to the water, green eyes caught her attention. The same green eyes she has dreamed about.
He was just as beautiful as she had remembered. His raven hair reflected the sunlight almost giving him a glowing effect. He slowly walked towards her without saying a word.
“Your name?” She finally asked the question that had been on her mind for weeks.
“Killian.” His voice deep and velvet smooth. The sound sent waves and tingles straight to her core.
Her hand trembling, she placed it on his bare chest. Chills shoot up her body. And warmth pulls in her center. Looking up at the only man who had made her feel this way, she notices his eyes change color.
Sarah backed up, not out of fear but curiosity. Killian‘s eyes returned to their vibrant green. Looking at the princess with a troubled look on his face he said “Meet me back here tomorrow”.
Days go by, and every day Killian and Sarah would meet. Killian explained to her what he was. Due to her father’s orders, she was unaware of what a shifter was or the war that took place. Listening to every detail, she felt the anger boil inside her over the innocent blood spilled in order for her father to try and protect his throne.
Love began to blossom and that night Killian would mark and mate Sarah. They made plans to run away together after they mated to escape her father.
The King caught wind of what was happening after having her followed. That night he sent soldiers to kill the shifter and capture his daughter.
On her way to meet Killian, Sarah is hit with a pain in her chest. She falls to the ground clutching her chest and struggling to stand. She crawls to the nearest tree, where she is met by a soldier holding a sword to her throat. The smell of iron fills her nose. To her left the body of her mate and 4 soldiers lay.
Pain erupts from every part of her body and a scream erupts from her for the loss of her love. The soldier grabs her and takes her to the prison cells.
As Sarah laid on the cold dirt floor in the dark dungeon, mourning her lost soul mate, a light appears in the corner. Two women appeared as glowing figures.
“ Do not fear child. We are not here to hurt you. We can feel the hurt in your soul. But you are not done yet. There is a strength in you that has yet to be unleashed. You are wise beyond your years, fair to the smallest of creatures, and the strength to move mountains. We have watched our children suffer at the hands of your father. It is time that they had a protector of there own. For we fear this is just one of their many obstacles.”
“Who are you?” She asked.
“We are the Goddesses of the Moon and the Fae.”
Sarah laid there in disbelief. The tightness in her chest still lingering.
“We will be blessing you with the gifts of our kind. You will have the wolf of a shifter and the magic of the Fae. You won’t have the time to train. Trust in yourself and redeem your mate.”
In that moment another figure appeared beside the women. “KILLIAN.” Sarah screamed and threw herself towards the figure.
“Hello, my moon. I’m so sorry to leave you so soon. I will always be walking beside you. When you are scared, know I am in the wind of the trees. You are my heart. You are so strong my moon. I will see you again.” His hand cupping her cheek.
“Don’t leave me. Please don’t leave me. Take me with you. Don’t leave me.” She begged while trying to find something to ground him to her.
Killian holds the back of her head leaving a kiss on her forehead, “Go my moon, I will be watching and waiting.” With that he disappeared.
“Go child. You know what must be done. He has found the other shifter and the Fae clan. He has decreed to start a war to abolish all supernatural. Don’t let your mate’s death be in vain. We must leave you, but we will always remain close. One last parting gift…”. With a burst of light, they were gone and the cells gate swinging open.
