AXEL I waited silently, watching Maxine closely. My mind was running in circles, trying to figure out what she was going to say next. She hadn’t said much before we got to the house, but now it looked like she was ready. I leaned forward slightly, curious and anxious. I wanted answers just as badly as Diana did.
