A smirk makes its way on to my face, feeling satisfied with what I did to him. For as long as I’m here I will be that strong Namirah that wasn’t afraid of anything, even if I have to fake it. I’m going to show them exactly who I am, I refuse to be weak. I will do my absolute best to break through those depressing thoughts that once plagued my mind. Or I’ll die trying.
The General gets back up, I can’t see his whole face but his body language tells me that he wants to kill me. In one swift motion he has me in the air holding the chain between the two cuffs on my wrists.
“General. Put her down. Now.”
He huffs then puts me down. He roughly pulls me to him by that same chain now I can see his eyes up close as they send me a silent warning. His eyes are light grey, almost white, they remind me of mist I’ve never seen a colour like it, his eyes are frightening. I refuse to show him any fear. I inhale through my nose smelling his scent, he doesn’t smell like a wolf, or a vampire, or a warlock, or a human. He can’t be a hybrid either. So what the hell is he?
He forcefully pulls me along to the door.
“General, if you would please apologise to our guest somewhere along your walk that would be very much appreciated” Demetrius says before this General man or what ever he is pulls me out of the room.
As we’re walking along I purposely take my time, pulling back every now and again making his efforts in dragging me along to wherever we’re heading slightly harder. He stops abruptly in front of me then slowly turns to face me. He is glaring at me with his cold eyes as if he’s sending me another warning. Then without a single word he lets go of the chain allowing me to walk on my own.
“He said you should apologise to me” I say following hind him. He says nothing, he only lets out a heavy breath.
“What are you anyway? You don’t smell like any being I know of” I ask but he continues to walk not even acknowledging me.
He’s very tall, roughly 6 foot 7, maybe the combat boots he’s wearing has something to do with his height. He looks muscular as well. I definitely feel very small behind him.
“Ah you must be a mute. Or are you deaf? Oh wait no you’re certainly not deaf your master was just talking to you” I continue speaking, knowing very well that I’m annoying him. He tilts his head side to side cracking his neck.
“So... you have a name?” Still I get no reply.
“Y’know you still haven’t apologised.”
This place is obviously huge and everything is white floor to ceiling. It reminds me of a hospital. Everything is literally sparkling clean. I half expected to be in some crusty run-down dump of a building.
As we walk past a window I stop to take a look outside. My jaw instantly drops.
Below is hundreds of masked men training. But their training doesn’t look like the kind of trainings that I’m used to. They’re all paired up, they’re not just fighting to practice. They’re killing each other then whoever wins walks off the field to join a group of others. I feel like my eyes are going to fall out of their sockets. Only somebody without a soul would put people through this. Then I’m pulled out of my thoughts as I hear heavy footsteps coming towards me. I look ahead to see the general closing the space between us.
After seeing how their army trains I can’t help but to feel afraid of him. But I will not show any ounce of fear.
“What kind of training is that?” I ask. He looks out the window down to the men. He only shrugs his shoulders before turning to walk again but I’m rooted on the spot as I continue to watch them. He comes back to me again but this time he yanks me by the chain I almost fall forward.
“Hey! I can walk on my own.”
After one more yank he lets go of the chain.
“What is your name? Surely ‘The General’ isn’t your real name.”
No reply.
“Okay fine I get it you don’t want to talk to me.... or maybe you don’t know how...” I stop in my tracks. “Are you all muscle and no brain?” He turns around to me with his fists clenched at his sides.
I tilt my head to the side.
“What cat got your tongue? Or does your master not allow you to speak? You follow all his rules like a good little boy?”
“I think I can take you” I stalk towards him. “Why don’t you take these cuffs off and I’ll show you” I continue as he sends me death glares. “No I don’t think I can take you, I KNOW I can take you... after all...” Now right in front of his face. “You’re just Demetrius’s little b***h!” I spit.
He grabs me by the throat slamming me up against the wall, my feet dangle in the air. I try to claw at his hand as he crushes my windpipe.
“You ought to learn your place little wolf.” My eyes widen in shock at the sound of his husky voice. “I am not someone you’d want to anger” he says into my ear before dropping me to the floor.
I gasp taking in as much air as I possibly can, holding onto my throat looking up at the man responsible with tears in my eyes. I don’t know what it was about him but that one incident alone was enough to shake me to my core.
The way he spoke, the sound of his voice, the look in his eyes... It all felt so dark. The fear I just felt in that brief moment, I haven’t even felt that with Demetrius.
What in the hell is he...
