Reflection

434 Words
After a good few miles from any of the packs I decided to take a break and camp for the night. I wondered how my brother was holding up. I wasn't trying to hurt to him. Maybe he would accept my chosen path one day. I gathered some sticks to make a fire, to camp out for the night. Afterwards I set up the tent. Dad use to take Hunter and I camping all the time, so it was fairly easy setting up. There was a pond nearby. I decided to skinny dip and relax. The sun had set. I stared at my reflection. My blue eyes looked sad, my blonde hair went down to my middle back, looking limp. I looked... tired. Emotionally and physically I was. I decided to take this route so I need to toughen up. As I dried myself I looked at my full body reflection. I had always been thin but I had lost some weight since my parents died. I took this moment to empower myself. "I AM POWERFUL. I AM STRONG. I AM IN CONTROL," I shouted. I felt confident and ready for this new chapter. YES YOU ARE ALLISON. My wolf! I smiled. I wondered her name. IVORY Beautiful. I closed my eyes, pictured her, took in the breeze, inhaled and exhaled. I felt in tune with myself for once. SHIFT How? PICTURE SHIFTING. FOCUS HARDER WITH FEELING IN TUNED WITH YOUR INNER SELF. EMBRACE YOURSELF AND ME AS ONE. I shook off any nerves. Looked at my reflection and this time saw a strong me. A full moon danced in the ripples of the pond. I wanted to share the summer breeze with Ivory. I closed my eyes and inhaled and exhaled. The next thing I knew I felt a sharp pain across my spine. My body was shifting as I could feel myself bend to my knees. Once the pain went away I saw my hand...no, my fur. I walked over to the pond. Ivory was beautiful! She was literally the color of ivory. One blue eye, one green eye. I had the craziest urge to go for a run. Fireflies trailed the way as I sped past them. The wind was glorious on our coat. This was freeing, exhilarating. It had become way after dark. I shifted back in the same process I focused to shift to. My body was sore and drained. I put on pink sweats and a grey hoodie and crawled into my tent. I wrapped myself in my blanket and closes my eyes. GOODNIGHT ALLISON. ... goodnight Ivory.
