The Reward

"Avery! Avery! Avery!" Her friends cheered as she tried to put the ball inside the cup at the other end of the table. She was enjoying this a little too much. It was a surprise to all how good she was at the Pong game. But after drinking another cup of alcohol before the beginning of the next round, she started feeling dizzy. All that alcohol had started taking its toll. She was drinking for the first time. So she had no idea when to stop. Everything was getting blurred, becoming hard for her to focus. She was on a winning streak, too close to break Andy's record. "You go, girl! You got this!" someone from the crowd cheered. "Hehehe," she giggled, throwing the ball. Boom! No one knew where the ball went, but Avery fell to the ground with a thud! "Avery?" Mia shook her, a little afraid. "Avery?" She called her name louder as more people surrounded them. It scared her. Till now, she assumed Avery had an exceptional skill at holding her alcohol. But now this was happening! What was she supposed to do? Avery had to return to the alpha's mansion before 2 AM before the night shift changed in the mansion and the beta took over the charge. It was already 1.30AM. She was doomed. After all, it was her idea! But was she really supposed to be blamed? The alpha didn't let Avery go anywhere. The girl wanted to enjoy teenage wolf parties. So she only asked her to join them at this party. She was almost eighteen. She insisted on coming here. But will anyone listen to her? Will anyone believe her? "Where is she?" A powerful, dominant voice shrieked through the hall despite the loud music. The young wolves moved to corners, paving a clear path for him as if they saw some ghost. "I told you this was a bad plan!" Nat whispered, shaking Avery frantically. "Avery, wake up! Your uncle is here to take you," he wailed in fear. Jake's anger doubled when he saw Nat touching Avery. He clenched his fists into a tight ball, trying to control his rage. He knew this little boy. He was Avery's friend. But wasn't he too close? Did he seduce her to come here? Was he planning something horrible by making her drunk? It was no place for his innocent Avery. The smell of s*x and smoke disgusted him. Why would she want to come here? The mansion had everything. Her friends were allowed to visit her. Weren't they? He could not find any reason to understand why Avery was lying on the floor drunk! "Avery! It's time you woke up before your uncle kills us!" Mia threw some water on her face, frenzied, shaking from fear. Jake hissed. Even Mia was at this disastrous party. He had to inform Mia's brother later. But now she was not someone of his concern. "This party ends here! Before I finish 3, this place should be vacant." Jake ordered, leaving no room for any question as the young wolves fled in all directions, looking for an exit. "Are we supposed to leave her too?" Nat stuttered, almost dragging Mia. "He is here, isn't he?" He reasoned, his legs trembling with fear. Jake scoffed. This guy had no balls to charm Avery. Perhaps it was her wish to be here. But why? "Hmm, let's go!" Mia acknowledged, taking a deep breath, and looking one last time at Jake before fleeing with Nat. "She is in good hands. She is in good hands." She whispered to herself to suppress her guilt about leaving Avery. Jake never counted. He didn't have to. Within a split second, the entire house was empty. Except one. The boy, hiding behind the curtains, had almost wet his pants. "Why are you here, boy? Do you have a death wish?" He asked dangerously, his eyes threatening him. "I- I-" He stuttered. "He, he, he," Avery giggled, rolling a little. Her smile captured Jake's mind, calming him a little. He walked closer to her, to analyze her condition. "Leave!" He shouted, without wanting to hear any excuses. The boy didn't wait. He simply ran, afraid of his dear life. "But I live here!" He cried, outside the fence. Jake gave her some medicine he had brought along. He had assumed something like this when he heard Avery had escaped the mansion to attend a wolf party! Did he not take care of her properly? Was he not attentive? When did she get into this? He was going to police everyone who was responsible for her in the mansion. They had not done their job properly. Over the years, he only watched her from afar. He ensured she lived like a princess, not a spoiled one, but as a good girl. After all, he had big plans for her. He gave her water to drink and splashed some more on her face. When she finally woke up, he could tell she was still under the influence of alcohol. How much did she drink? Even if her birthday was around the corner, she should have some restraint. Perhaps it was time he took over control. He had to watch her himself so that this would never be repeated. "Where is the music? My ball! The party ended without me?" Avery blabbered. She pushed away from Jake, correcting her hair as she sat. "Who are you? Where is Mia?" She hissed, not having realized that the man beside her was Jake. Jake smiled. He didn't mind it at all. The fact that her first reaction was to push away a man she thought was a stranger made him happy. "I am going to take you home," he said, picking her up. "Jake?" she mumbled, shaking her head, darting to confirm if it was really him and she was not hallucinating. She would dream about something like this too often these days. Jake quenched his brows. When did she stop addressing him as uncle? It had always annoyed him. But that was the best for now. "Jake?" He chuckled. "OK, Uncle Jake, it is really you. I mean who could be colder than you for silly things?" She whispered, snaking her arms around his neck. It surprised Jake. Why was she behaving like that? They were not close. She kept giggling, confusing him. "Why are you laughing like that?" He said coldly, making her pout. Was this the real her? Was she pretending to be soft-spoken and docile? I had hardly heard her voice in the mansion. Now, she wouldn't stop making fun of him. It only made him curious to find out more about what she thought about him. Perhaps it was his only chance. "You think I can't walk!" She sulked, getting down. But her legs didn't support her. As soon as she was about to fall, Jake again scooped her up and carried her to his car. This time, she didn't protest. What else could she do when her legs didn't support her? She moved her legs merrily, snaking her arms around his neck, deciding she was simply going to enjoy being close to him. She had wanted this for a long time. On their way back, Jake wanted to ask too many things. But he didn't know how to start. He would steal glances at her every now and then, only to be surprised by how she kept looking at her constantly. Before, she would never meet his eyes. Today, she had no fear of him. Was it because she was almost eighteen? Or was it alcohol? He had to know. He pulled his car onto a dark, lonely street. He didn't know what to say, looking ahead, contemplating, as he tightened his grip on the steering wheel. He glanced at Avery from the corner of his eyes. She was still staring at him, amused and excited. He gulped hard. She looked beautiful. She was wearing a short dress, fit for a party. But it bothered him a little. He knew she had not done anything wrong. It was only his possessiveness. "Why did you go to the party?" He finally asked. "Will you reward me if I tell you the truth?" She replied, a little shy. Jake nodded his head, surprised and puzzled. He wanted to know what was going in her head. "I just wanted to attend a party like a normal teenage girl. I am always inside the mansion, bored, pretending, and whatnot. I just wanted to have some fun. Maybe I shouldn't have got wasted like this, but, hey! My birthday is around the corner." She replied, without mincing her words. Jake sighed. Was he too harsh on her? Did he stop her from enjoying her life? He would do better. "We will discuss this when you sober up!" he replied. "Boring!" She sulked, looking outside the window. "What about the reward?" He asked to lighten her mood. He didn't want to hurt her. He simply wanted to discuss well when she had sobered up so that they could readjust her schedules, giving her more time to enjoy her life. They couldn't do it then! Her smile returned. She gulped hard, tugging her hair behind her ears. She was still under the influence of alcohol, but she knew what she wanted better. She looked up, blushing hard. Jake could hear her heartbeat rising. It confused him. What was she going to ask? She bit her lips, flushing. Jake wanted to look away. The way she was behaving was making him excited. He had been restraining himself for a long time. But today, out of the blue when he was in this situation, his reasoning ability was becoming blurry. "Avery?" her name came out rather gently from his mouth as if he was calling his lover. It only made her crush harder. His eyes widened when he smelled her arousal. It blew his mind. He had not seen this coming. "Can I kiss you?" She pecked my lips without waiting for my answer, triggering the lustful desires inside me that I had been controlling for a long time.
