It's Time To Wolf Up: Chapter 7

989 Words
Zayne's POV "f**k that was brutal", I said to Damon after we finally got Cecilia to leave. I had to threaten to banish her from the pack; If it has to come to that, I'd also warn all packs I'm familiar with, allied or not, what kind of person she is. I think I might just warn them anyway, in case she tries anything by leaving. The last thing I need is a war between packs, because Daddy's princess was told "No". Damon had been unusually quiet, after we discovered some info about his sister. The mate I betrayed. I had him revisit the grapevine about what happened all those years ago. We received different answers, and information between people that weren't involved, but witnessed it; Those loyal to Ivy, and even the faculty at the high school that surrounding packs, including ours, go to. If I know that silence like I believe I do, it's straight up guilt running through his bloodstream, thoughts, whilst surrounding every fiber of his being. I feel abso-f*****g-lutely the same way. The intense burn of rage is starting to make me itch. I need to go for a run, and process it all. "Do you want to go for a run, man?", I asked Damon. "I feel like we need to process what we just discovered. As well as work off the rage we're feeling". "Yeah I could go for a run", Damon said quietly. His thoughts were still elsewhere, that much is clear. I don't blame him. My thoughts haven't stopped running rampant since she left all those years ago. I remember when my dad went off on me after she left. I didn't say why, but I didn't have to. He's not a stupid man. He could tell Cecilia was my "chosen", and that I rejected Zara. He was so angry, he didn't speak to me for two months. My mom cried, and slapped the s**t out of me. She's the only one who could get away with doing that. She expressed her disappointment, until she and my dad left until they were ready to speak with me again. I don't know where they went, but it was a vacation for them. The only good thing to come out of the f**k up I caused. "But honestly; How much of a vacation was it, when they were deciding how to handle the situation? The situation being their next Alpha? Their son is acting a fool, when he should be showing an example to his pack members. They have always hated Cecilia, they have always cherished, and loved Zara. Zara is a fighter through and through. Her compassion is genuine, and fierce. Their respect and love for her grew, when she chose to ignore you all or fight back, without saying a word to them of your behavior. They felt the respect she had for our family, even though one member clearly didn't deserve it", Blade lectured me again, proving that he is a wise old wolf. "I heard that", Blade grumbled. "You were supposed to. You couldn't let me have that one positive outlook?", I asked slightly irritated that my one "silver lining" is now tainted. "Nope", Blade replied, popping the "P". "There isn't anything positive about the Colossal mistake you made, technically as your first decision as Alpha, besides that in the years since then, you've slightly pulled your head out of your ass". I sighed. He's right; as per usual. Blade grunted in sarcastic agreement. "Are you two done arguing? Or can you argue while we run?", Damon asked; annoyed that we stopped right before exiting my office, just to have our arguement. "Sorry man, let's go.", I apologized, whole opening the door to my office. We both stopped frozen to see my dad there. He had been gone for a week on business, and wasn't supposed to return until tomorrow night; as he helps me with the balancing of the pack alliances. He got really fidgety when he had nothing to do, so we came to an agreement. He helps me with the load, and I don't have to hear him complain about being "retired". "Hey dad. when did you get back?", I asked, a little taken off guard. "I thought you were coming back tomorrow night?" "Your mother and I returned an hour ago. She's taking a nap right now. I was coming to talk to you both, but heard you're going for a run; So let's go." He said, turning around to head towards the back door in the kitchen. Damon and I looked at each other; following my father out the back, and towards the surrounding forest. "How much do you think your dad actually heard?", Damon asked me through mind link. "A lot more than you think.", my dad answered to both of us through mind link. We both roll our eyes as it's not uncommon for our wolves to give their Alpha any info requested. My dad uses it to see what we're saying about him. "Dad what did you hear?", I asked him outright, since he wanted to be nosy during our private conversation. "Let's enjoy the run, and save the talk for the clearing", my dad said then blocked us out. So that's what we did. We ran at full speed on the open trail, then slowed down some when we were nearing a more deserted trail. It looked like it hasn't been used in years, but it was there. Then it hit me. This was Zara' place. The place we rejected each other. The place where I took advantage of her heat. The place where my worst memory haunts me. The place where I let the one person that needed me, disappear. The one person I now know as the love if my life. The person the moon goddess chose for me. The person I hope I didn't lose forever.
