Hayden's POV.
“When's your date?” Grandpa asked me while I was taking a walk with him in the garden. This is one of his favorite things to do with me and Miley.
“It's tomorrow”, I said, clearly not interested in where the conversation was headed.
“And who's this woman I heard you're looking for?”
“Woman? What woman?” I asked, clearly surprised.
“Oh come on, there's nothing going on in that company that I don't know”, he said, chuckling.
“Well, I'm no longer looking for her, so can we not talk about it?”
“If you say so”, he said, shrugging.
I stopped searching for Aurora after a while. Pascal and his team put in their best effort, but it was futile.
“The Wilson's have invited you to their daughter's wedding ceremony next week”, Ava said to me at work the next day.
“Cancel it, I'm not attending”, I said without batting an eyelid.
“I'm afraid, I can't”, Ava said, sighing.
“And why is that?”
“Miss Miller is to go with you as your plus one. It's an order from Master Hernandez himself.
Tiffany Miller is the new woman I'm being set up with. We've been going on dates for a while now, but it's obvious I'm just doing it for my Grandfather's sake. And now he's compelling me to attend a wedding with her.
“Isn't that great?” I said sarcastically.
The wedding was packed with so many dignitaries from all over Los Angeles, including myself and Tiffany. She's the daughter of an influential jeweler in Asia.
The wedding started as the bride was ushered in and people started speaking in hushed tones.
“This would have been her sister, not her,” one woman whispered.
“Yeah, but I heard she's been treated indifferently,” another one added.
“What do you think? Her mother's dead,” said the first woman.
“Caroline would never allow her to overtake her daughter,” the third woman said.
Which daughter could they be talking about? I wondered for a while.
After a while, the reception started, Mr Wilson was going around to say hello to the guests, and finally it was my turn.
“Congratulations Mr Wilson, the Hernandez's send their best wishes”, I said, shaking his hand firmly.
“I'm honored to have you here”, he replied.
He then proceeded to have business talks with me, including the partnership he had been requesting.
“I still want to partner with Hernandez,” he said, sipping his wine.
“Well, I see you have already made partners with the Ferdinands” I replied with a tight smile.
For some reason unknown to me, I don't have any interest in him or his partnership. Something seemed off about him. He's the kind of man who uses whatever he has to get what he wants, even at the inconvenience of others.
“Oh well, this is a family partnership, I'm talking about business”, he said, chuckling.
“It's your daughter's wedding, Mr Wilson, have fun”, I said, and left his presence with Tiffany.
“I'm going home with you,” Tiffany said when we got to the highway.
“I suggest you go home”, I replied, not looking up from my phone.
She took off her jacket and the scarf tied around her neck in response to my suggestion.
“I'm spending the night with you “, she whispered in my ears and kissed me deeply.
She went straight up to my room as soon as we got home. And without any further ado, she took off her dress and went into the shower.
I stood by the window, shirtless with a glass of scotch in my hand. I stared at half of Los Angeles from my penthouse, a part of me hoping to spot her.
I felt a pair of hands around my waist, breaking into my train of thoughts. I turned around to see her naked. She took my cup and gulped the rest of its contents.
“Show me how much of a man you are”, she whispered in my ear.
My eyes darkened, my blood surged, it almost felt like she was in front of me.
I took her to bed and slept with Tiffany.
She grabbed my hair in ecstasy, she held onto the bed spread for support. Her moans filled the atmosphere, her body clung to mine like a magnet.
It was like an obsession that was slowly killing her while begging for more.
And in my mind, that night, I was making love to Aurora.
I left a note the next morning as I was ready for work. She was sprawled out on the bed, drained out of yesterday's moment.
I got into the car with flashbacks of the previous night still playing in my head.
“Why was I taking Tiffany to be Aurora?”
“Why does it feel like I'm seeing her around me?”
“Why's she making me feel so restless?”
I asked myself questions with no answer. I stared at her bracelet hoping to find any clue on it, but there was nothing.
I groaned in frustration, I became angry at everything and everyone.
“Hey, chill man”, Pascal said, after I yelled at my manager, who scurried away like a frightened rat.
“I'm chilled”, I said, scrolling through my screen.
“Is this still about Aurora?”
I sighed and held my head before I spoke up.
“I slept with Tiffany last night thinking it was her”, I said painfully. That's what it feels like now. Pain.
“Bro, this is going beyond what it is” Pascal lamented.
“Exactly man, I just need to find her, I'm going insane here”, I said, leaning on my seat.
“We’ll continue with the search then, but maybe her name isn't even Aurora”, he said," Because we’ve gone through every single one in Los Angeles”.
“Does that mean I don't even know the name of the woman I'm looking for?” I asked myself, exasperatedly.
