I GOT THE JOB

"You simply can't work here", he tells her as he turns to leave. She immediately drops to her knees and starts pleading. He looks away. He couldn't look in her big, bold eyes. They were perfect, SHE was perfect but his heart had been closed a long time ago "Leave before I call security," he walks away from her as the elevator door shuts behind her. She remains on the floor of the elevator door as he walks away. She buries her face in her hands as she feels her whole world crumble right before her. Where the hell does she start from now? The elevator bell dings as the doors open. She looks up and sees a bunch of people staring down at her. She wished the ground would swallow her whole. She slowly gets up and walks past them. She hears the whispers and crude comments. "Why would she think she can work here?", "Poor girl", "How did she even get called for the interview?" She walks with her head down until she reaches the door. She pulls her phone out her phone from her bag and calls Ava. "Hey girl", Ava says cheerfully from the other line. "Hey, can you come pick me up?" she asks, her voice sinking in as if she's about to cry. "S-sure, I'll be there in 15", Ava says, her mood immediately shifting as she hears her tone. She sits on a bench, face in her hands as she waits for Ava. Xavier couldn't stop thinking about her. There was something different about her. Something he didn't see in most women. Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupts his thoughts. "Come in", he says as he turns to face his desk. "Bro, why did you do that?" his cousin Lucian asks as he pulls the chair in front of his desk and sits. "She's not qualified", Xavier says bluntly. "Liar", he says as he picks up her file and starts going through it. "You saw something in her." "I see nothing in women", Xavier says, but Lucian wasn't totally wrong. He did see something in Camille. The truth is, Lucian is the only one who can see right through him. She actually was qualified, but he just couldn't hire her. There's something dangerous about her. Something he wouldn't be able to control. She looks so innocent, yet not so at the same time. "Call her back", Lucian says, putting down the folder. "W-What? No, I'm not doing that" "Call her back and tell her she starts tomorrow", Lucian says. His expression more serious than ever. "If I don't, though?" he challenges him. Lucian doesn't say anything, just smirks and picks up his phone. He dials a number, and the person picks up on the third ring. "Yes, Miss Camille Brooks," He says, the person on the phone, and Xavier's eyes widen. He try to take the phone from Lucian, but he keeps blocking his attempts. He buries his face in his palm. Once he's done, he looks at him with a smirk. "I f*****g hate you", Xavier says as he stands up. "Enjoy your new assistant, bro" Lucian says as he leaves the office. Ava had arrived in 15 minutes, just as she promised. She steps out of the car, walks over to Camille and hugs her. "He's a prick anyway", she says as she rubs slow circles on Camille's back. "I really needed this job, Ava" "You'll find a better one babe, trust", she kisses her forehead and walks her to the car. She holds her hand the whole ride home and even buys her ice cream just so she can feel better. Later that evening, Camille sits alone on her beaten-up couch as an unknown number calls her. "Hello" she says, wondering who it is. "I got the job?" she asks, surprised. "Yes, you start tomorrow at 8. Don't disappoint," the man on the other side says to her as he ends the call first. The man didn't sound like Xavier, but he said he worked for him. "I-I got the job. I got the f*****g job, "she screams as she immediately calls Ava. She picks up on the second ring. "I got the job, babe", Camille yells into the phone. "Wait? WHAT!" she asks, stunned. "Yes, I just got off the phone with one of his workers, and they say I got the job. Ava, I got the f*****g job. I start tomorrow. ARGHHH!! WHAT THE f**k DO I WEAR?" "Camille, babe, slow your roll" she laughs "I'm so happy for you b***h", she laughs with me on the other end. They talk for a while, and she helps her pick out what to wear before they call it a night. Camille flops down on her bed, tired from the exhausting day she had, closes her eyes, and the next thing she knows, she's fast asleep.
