Chapter 10 Loss of Self-Control

874 Words
His eyes took in her flushed cheeks. Lennon thought he was a man with strong self-control. After all, there were many women around him, and none of them could successfully get near his bed. In front of this woman, however, he seemed incapable of self-control anymore. He knew that she couldn't bear to have s*x with him now, but his thoughts kept returning to their moment together last night. Was this woman fatal to him? Or could it be that... last night's medication had some aftereffect? It did not make sense, though. He saw a lot of women at his company today, but none of them aroused him. As he seemed to have no intention of getting up from her, she said again, "I have a wound now. If you get infected by it... won't it affect your happiness for the rest of your life?" "Who was the one that drugged me last night, but didn't control the dosage? Serve you right." She looked at him pitifully. So, he was putting the blaming on her? She can’t provoke him now, it will only bring her misfortune. "You're right. It was my mistake." Last night, she was worried the dosage will not be enough, so she doubled it after some hesitation. How would she know the effect was so strong? It was Lennon who took the drug, but the unlucky one was her. "It was my fault. I won't do it again, I promise." Since she apologized in a good attitude, he returned to the driver's seat, and started the car. She sat upright. Breathing a sigh of relief in her heart, she thought, "Well, wise women should be able to put up with temporary setbacks. It's nothing." In the morning, she woke up in his bed with dark circles around her eyes. Though he did not do anything to her, both her shoulders were sore. She couldn’t get a wink of sleep half the night as she was very tensed, no wonder her shoulders were sore. After breakfast, the two of them went downstairs. Nelly went to Lennon’s company with him to settle the contract of the Coiling Dragon Bridge. At 11 o'clock, he took her to the shop to buy a set of clothes. After changing, they went to Johns Garden together. Johns Garden was a rather famous garden-style building in B City. Lennon's grandmother was from Kangnam, so she liked the rustic charms of the ancient buildings in Kangnam. Lord Leo adored his wife, hence he designed this building specially for his wife. It incorporated all the landscapes of Kangnam, including a surrounding stream, rock garden, and pavilion. Nelly felt in a trance when she first entered this place, as if she had arrived at an ancient building by the lovely canals of Kangnam. Seeing Lennon arrive, the house servant came forward and greeted respectfully, "Master Lennon, welcome back." "Are my grandparents in the garden?" "Lord Leo is feeding parrots in the Bamboo Hall at the backyard, and Madam Grace is watching a movie at Elegance Hall." Lennon thought for a moment and said, "Go and invite my grandpa back to Elegance Hall." "Yes, Master Lennon." After the servant had left, Nelly couldn't help but said, "Your family..." She hesitated. He gave her a sidelong glance. "Speak up." "Your family... is too corrupted." He curled his lips. "What do you know?" "Don't you think so? Such a large garden for so few people! It feels similar to the bureaucratic families of old times. I always thought that bureaucrats and large families are very corrupted." He smiled faintly at her words. "I already told you. You don't understand, this garden is proof that my grandpa loved my grandma." She was suddenly silent for a moment. The relationship between Leo and Grace was indeed a lovely story for decades. Nelly and Lennon went to Elegance Hall. Grace was alone in the hall, absorbed in her romance movie. "Grandma." Lennon's voice interrupted the old lady. His grandmother turned and saw that her grandson had come. Though she was already 79 years old this year, Grace was smiling like a 9-year-old child. "My dear grandson, it's a surprise to see you here today!" As she spoke, her gaze fell on Nelly's face. Grace's eyes lit up when she saw Nelly. "Oh, who do we have here?" Lennon brought Nelly to his side and naturally put his arm around her shoulder. "Let me introduce you both, grandma. Her name is Nelly, she the woman I'm getting married to." Grace looked at Nelly with satisfaction. "She's looks good. My grandson has good taste indeed. Come here, dear, over here." Nelly walked over with embarrassment and greeted her respectfully. "It is nice to meet you, grandma." "My dear, relax. Tell me now, did this kid of mine kidnap you, or did you do it voluntarily?" Nelly grinned. "I volunteered." "That's good. You see, you're the first girl my grandson brought home himself. He is not young. I can't wait for you two to get married, and have a great-grandson for me." "Who says you can get married? I don't agree." Suddenly, a harsh reproach came from the door. They turned around and saw Leo entering with a cold expression.
