Captain Crow stood tall in front of the desk of Colonel White. His eyes were fixed on a spot on the tent wall just above the Colonel"s head. Seated in the other chairs were Lieutenant Colonel Gibson and Major Adams. Crow had been standing for what felt like an eternity while White read several papers on his desk. Outside the tent, the sounds of men shouting and cursing could be heard as they broke-down the tents and packed equipment making ready to move to the garrison. Just as Crow was beginning to think that he had been forgotten, White asked, “Where is your Navy Dahlgren Bowie Bayonet, Captain Crow?” A chill gripped the base of Crow"s skull and his stomach did a roll, “Sir, the Bowie is in my saddlebag, sir.” In a voice full of quiet menace, and a touch of sarcasm, White said, “Then
