In White"s office were Gibbs, Gilroy and Crow. White was saying, “So Adams killed this Kinkaid fellow. I had no idea he was in so deep.”
Gilroy said, “It would appear Major Adams never got the chance to pass on the information that I had passed to him. He was outside the house under Miss Collier"s bedroom window when Kinkaid confronted him. Apparently, Adams shot him dead.”
Crow thought, "I wonder if Kenna and I are what caused Adams and Kinkaid to get in a deadly row?"
Picking up a sheaf of papers, White said, “Lieutenant Gilroy, I need you to take these reports over to headquarters. I forgot to do this yesterday. The secretary will have my ass if they aren"t there today.”
“Yes, sir,” said Gilroy, taking the papers, “I"ll do it right now.”
After Gilroy had left, White said to Gibbs,
