As Crow rode into camp he called out to the bugler, “Sound "Stand to Horse"!” As the bugler began the call, Crow entered his tent. Stump had been behind the camp desk filling out papers and was headed to his cot. “We"re moving out, and we have a lot of ground to cover,” said Crow. “The Rebs are headed towards Washington, and our side isn"t ready.” Stump found what he needed to go into combat at the foot of his cot. Like every man in the company, he and Crow had drilled on answering the call. Picking up his gear he headed outside. What he saw filled him with pride; one hundred mounted troops with one hundred extra horses were getting ready to go wherever their captain led them.
