It was just two weeks after Crow and his men had arrived when one of the Wolf Scouts rode into the village. “Cheyenne! A large war party of nearly one hundred braves is coming!” he shouted. Crow asked his grandfather if he may take a look. With Broken Leg"s permission, he and the Wolf rode out together. Several miles from the village, Crow and the scout met with the other Wolves who were keeping an eye on the Cheyenne. One of the Wolves said to Crow, “They will send scouts out soon, we will kill them.” “No,” said Crow. “Let them send their scouts. They will see a village unaware of their presence. We"ll have a surprise for them. I need you to watch for the Cheyenne scouts and follow them. When they are close to our village, ride like the wind and let us know they are close. I will leave
