I could hear my heart hammering against my chest as I turn slowly to meet his eyes. I force a smile, scoffing as I delay my answer. My eyes dart around aimlessly. There’s a change in Jamie’s expression as he pushes himself up, his brows scrunched. I gulp, my smile falling.
“Unexpected..weather change?”, I reply, unsure of my lie would work on him.
