I swallowed hard, trying to push down the unease rising in my chest as my thoughts wandered back to the decision I had just made. It still didn’t feel real, like I had said yes too quickly without fully thinking it through.
He looked up for a moment, his eyes resting on me like he could see right through the storm in my head, before he looked away again, his expression returning to calm.
