Talking with Raz was pretty easy. As they drove slowly down the long driveway, Raz began talking about her work as a veterinarian. By the time they reached the main road, she'd moved on to discussing her family, who she didn't see often but felt pretty close to.
Aliyah hoped that Raz wouldn't ask about her family. It wasn't that she had anything scandalous going on with them, but she just needed some time without them to figure herself out. Luckily, Raz didn't ask.
“So where are we going anyway?" Aliyah asked.
“I mean, we're in the land of the Great Lakes, so we're going to a lake of course! Though this lake isn't one the Great Lakes. It's just a small place just south of town that my uncle used to take me and my cousins to when we were younger."
