Alex rushed in as soon as he heard Kate shout his name. Her voice carried a kind of urgency that made his heart skip. He thought something terrible had happened.
But the moment he stepped into the living room, he saw her clutching her phone with trembling excitement, eyes wide, face glowing.
“Do you know who just called?” she blurted out, almost breathless. “Mr. Norman! Mr. Norman—the CEO of Diamond Group! He called me himself and asked to meet me!”
Alex exhaled deeply, half in relief, half in amusement. He had imagined something else.
Kate’s energy filled the room; she couldn’t stop pacing, her words tumbling over one another. “Do you even understand how impossible it is to reach him? People wait months just to get his secretary! And he—he called me! Me, Alex!”
