Chapter 2

Tragedy

Ariana was just closing the store when the owner came in and wanted to talk to her.

“Linda what is it?”She asked the old woman who looked desperate and sad. Linda was an eighty years old woman and a former warrior in her youth of Bluewater. Her mate died six months ago. That's why she hired Ariana to help in the bookshop. She had a daughter who lives in Crescent Moon pack with her mate and two children.

“I'm sorry child, I feel that I am too old now. I don't have many years left in this life", Linda began to explain

" That's why I decided to sell the shop and move to Crescent Moon to be near my daughter and grandchildren.” Linda continued.

“I understand, do you have any buyers yet?

“Ya, they are from Crescent Moon, I could recommend you to the new owner”,Linda replied.

“That would be great, Linda”. Ariana felt sad, she would miss Linda and if the new owner doesn't want her help,she would need to find another job. Not so many in this pack would want to hire her. Bluewater had about three hundred pack members and the majority of them hated her. She's already cast out because they think she's a rogue , what will they do if they ever find out who she really is?

She went home having the weight of the world on her shoulder.

Ariana saw pack members heading to the packhouse on her way home.

“What happened?" She asked a warrior who passed by.

“The alpha had executed an omega. They found the late Luna's jewelry on her pocket”, the warrior retorted. Ariana's heart skipped, she ran to the packhouse as fast as she could, her heart was pounding rapidly against her chest. Ariana came to a halt when she saw a body lying dead on the ground. She gasped and screamed in agony when she went nearer and saw who it was. How can someone be so cruel to take her mother’s life,she has the purest soul, she could never do what she was accused of. She heard pack members murmuring, some took pity, some thought her mother deserved it. Pack members began to leave to go into their home as Ariana left alone hugging her mother’s lifeless body. Darkness covered the pack's ground, Ariana could only hear her own sobbs as the night had cried along with her. She was drenched as the rain fell from the sky. She heard someone coming on her way but she didn't look up.

“Aria I'm so sorry” Anthony uttered,

Ariana didn't move at all, she hugged her mother’s body tighter as she cried and cried until she didn't have tears left to shed anymore Anthony tapped her shoulder.

"Aria, I know how you feel."

"You don't know what I feel!" Ariana snapped at Anthony.

"I lost my mother too",he began.

"No one killed your mother in cold blood!" she spot.

"Calm down",Anthony remarked.

“Come, I can help you carry your mother’s body to your cabin then you can decide what to do”.

Anthony carried Ariana's mother's body to the cabin, he put her on a blanket. He went to Ariana's room and took a towel and some change clothes for Ariana. He gave it to her but Ariana was still standing unmoved in the middle of her living room. Anthony took Ariana to her bathroom and filled the bathtub with warm water for her. He helped her into the bathtub with still her clothes on, Ariana just comply.

“Aria, you need to decide what you want to do with your mother’s body. I can help you bury her wherever you want, I don't think there's someone who will help you in this forsaken pack.” Anthony said with disgust.

“Why would you?" Ariana wondered.

“What?”

“Why would you want to help me when no one else does? It doesn't ease my pain and hatred with your father”. She scolded.

“Just like you, I hated him,” he bristled.

Ariana looked up to him. She couldn't figure out what the alpha had done to his own son, this man standing inside her bathroom,the only person who helped her today had held some hatred for his own father.

“Aria?”he called to her as she lost in her own thoughts.

“Have you decided what to do?” he asked again.

“I want to bury her beside my father’s grave in the woods “.

Anthony leaves Ariana to dress. When came out she noticed that Anthony's clothes were drenched from the rain too. She took some clean clothes from her father’s closet and gave it to Anthony. The shirt was a bit tighter and the pants were shorter.

“You look hideous”, Ariana commented. Anthony saw a smile on Ariana but not quite the same as he had seen of her.

“Glad that I can entertain you a bit” as he bowed to her with open arms. Anthony told Ariana to rest as he went outside to look for some old wooden plank to make a casquet. He mindlink his friends Danny the betas son and Liam the gammas son.

“Hey Dan, are you and Liam still awake? Anthony wondered.

“Ya, we were just finishing the first round of this new release game online, why? What's wrong? “ Danny queried.

Anthony told them what happened and where he was. He asked them to come to Ariana’s cabin to help him build a casquet. Half an hour later Danny and Liam came. Danny brought some plank he found at the pack's storehouse.

“Thanks man” Anthony greeted his friends with a brotherly hug.

“Why help her?" Liam inquired. Anthony felt anger towards his friend.

“If you had a problem of being here to help, just f*** off and go home. I don't need some help from a short minded person.” Anthony seethed.

“Whoa whoa whoa, slow down there man, I didn't mean that way”, Liam calmly explained.

“Look, we are your friends and we helped you whenever you needed”, Danny chimed in.

“Ariana” a woman’s voice called.

“s**t!” Anthony went to the front door to see who was calling for Ariana. The woman turned her head to where Anthony came.

“Alpha” she bowed her head to Anthony to show respect.

“I just want to ensure that Ariana is doing fine”, she explained without looking into Anthony.

“She’s not fine, right now she's resting”, he told the woman. The door opened as Ariana stood with a profound sadness all over her face, her eyes were swollen by all the crying.

“Annie “ Ariana hugged the woman as the tears flowed in her eyes as she sobbed on Annie’s shoulder. Annie was her mother’s friend, she has two children,and her mate works on the farm.

“It will be ok Ariana” Annie consoled Ariana.

Anthony left them and went back to his friends. The whole night they were up and doing what had to be done. Before sunrise they buried Ariana’s mother beside her father’s grave. Annie left her first, she needed to be home to her mate and children. Danny and Liam said their condolences to Ariana and left as well.

“Aria, I am always here if you need someone to talk to”, Anthony said to her. Ariana slightly raised her head and looked to the horizon as the sun rose for the new day to begin.

Now that she doesn't have a family here anymore, she needs to leave this pack and find Freya.

“I will come back tonight to see if you need something”,Anthony informs.

“You don't have to, you have already helped so much.”

Anthony doesn't care what Ariana said, he will make sure she's ok. He felt protective over her, so did his wolf Dean.
