Chapter 11

1069 Words
Mind shield Ariana was standing alone in a wide empty space. All were white around her, the floors were bare, the space was endless. Silence was the only sound she heard. She called Freya's name and even Anthony's, to someone who could make the space alive but no one answered her. Was she dead? She looked at her bare hands, her feet, her clothes. She had white fitted shirts and tight jeans, the same clothes she had when she met her sister. It’s still the same day she thought, she walked a little farther and called again but nothing. How could she lose her sister the same day she had found her? She sat on the floor with heads on her knees as she begged for someone to help her leave this empty space. Then she heard it. A faint tapping sound on the floor and was on its way into her. She lifted her head to see what it was as she saw a beautiful silvery wolf coming nearer and nearer into where she was sitting. Her bright blue eyes were compelling and dominating. Deep inside she knew who this wolf was. “Hecate?” She called as she lifted her hand and patted the wolf in the head. The wolf took a couple of steps back from Ariana as she transformed into a tall curvy woman, dressed in a light blue long sleeved vintage dress. She was beautiful but Ariana felt that there is something wrong with her appearance, that she's not fully complete. “Hello Ariana, I know you recognize me.” Hecate said as she smiled at her. “Hecate, how did..”She stammered in surprise. “I am a witch like you, that's all you have to know for now.” Hecate said. “I am here to help you” She continued “Help me… with what?” “With that” Hecate pointed to the scene in front of us. Ariana heard her mother’s voice calling them to run, it's a memory, she remembered it. It was the day when dark witches found them on her and Freya’s 5th birthday but this was not her memory. She did not see her mother being pushed through the vortex and her aunt had been seized by a witch. This is Freya's memory, she understood that now, then another memory of them in the forest running and then another and another. Ariana felt dizzy and overwhelmed. She started to scream, to stop it. Her head felt like it's going to explode. She heard Hecate say to concentrate on her own memory, to put a barrier in her mind to block someone’s memory from coming in. Suddenly Freya's memory was gone and she could breathe again. “When you touch someone or they touch you, you'll be able to see their memory, that is the gift mother bestowed on you. It’s a powerful gift and you must know how to control it or else you will lose your own mind.” Hecate explained. “How?” She asked and felt worried. She didn't want to lose her mind, she had found Freya, she had Anthony and she needed to find her mother and save her aunt. There are many people who need her. “ You have to close your mind, put a shield around it.” Hecate instructed. “I don't know how.” She screamed as someone’s memory came to her. Luna Carla, Anthony's mother lying on her bed, pale and a younger Anthony sitting beside her. It must be Anthony's, his memory of his dying mother. “Concentrate, visualize a shield in your mind” Hecate's voice came into her mind and overpowered the memory. She had done what Hecate instructed. She could see a thin elastic like a rubber protecting her mind but it is not so strong yet. She loses it when she loses her focus. It felt like a year had passed for her and Hecate on that empty space. They not only practiced her mind shielding but also Hecate trained her on combat fighting, she was like a warrior princess. She believed she was getting stronger physically and even her shield was getting stronger. She learned how to put it up and put it down. She had practiced it when someone had been physically in contact with her body and a memory coming in. Hecate explained that her body was in deep sleep and they were in her space. “I think you are ready” Hecate said Anthony ~ It’s almost a month now, and Ariana was still unconscious. The doctors couldn't provide answers of what was wrong with her. Freya woke up two weeks ago with all of her childhood's memories, but Ariana didn't. The King had requested a witch healer from Silver Mountain pack and she said that she was just sleeping and would wake up soon. Anthony felt helpless.Alpha Black had pestered him to go back to Bluewater but he couldn't leave Ariana alone at Crescent Moon’s hospital. So Anthony had come up with an idea. The King and the elders had endorsed a training program for all young wolves at Crescent Moon. All wolves between seventeen and eighteen can send an application. It would measure the strength, courage and leadership of each person. Anthony had already sent his application but he didn't know if he was accepted yet. He talked to the King about it and King Maxwell understood how he felt. He went back to Bluewater and showed Alpha Black the papers that he had been accepted and a letter from the King asking him to be at Crescent Moon a month early. The alpha was not happy about it but he couldn't deny the King's request. He packed his belongings and took some of Ariana's clothes from her cabin and drove back to Crescent Moon. Everyday he begged the Moon Goddess for Ariana to wake up. “How is she doing?” Anthony lifted his head and saw the King standing at the doorway. “It's still the same,” he whimpered. The King came in and stood beside Ariana's bed. He lifted his arm and touched her forehead as Ariana suddenly opened her eyes and grabbed King Maxwell's hand.
