She was falling. Like the time she did when aunt Aubrey dropped her. Fortunately, she fell on the carpet that day. But this time, it was different. It was slow. She opened her eyes to see blue. All around, it was blue. She looked around and saw multiple fishes flowing around her. It was like, AN OCEAN! Yes. She must be in an ocean. But how? When she fell, it was a well. She kept the questions for later and tried to figure out when she will hit the bottom. But no matter how much she waited, she kept sinking. She remembered her brother telling her about a valley in the ocean. Marinara trek or something like that. Marina Trench. Yes. She wondered whether she was in it. Eventually, she felt something crawling into her heart. Fear. She was getting scared. She clutched her necklace. She started missing her parents, brother and her Mars. She had named her teddy Mars. It was the biggest teddy that she had. It would often save her. Like when she was sitting up one day, she almost hit her eye on the table corner. But Mars was there. His hand came in between her and the table. She would cuddle it at night and talk to him and tell him about her everyday activities like what she did, whom did she meet. And he would listen with a wide smile on his face. She started to cry. She realised that she missed her teddy more than anyone. She was sniffling by now and looked around to see that she was standing. It was the bottom of the ocean. She saw a house in distance. She started walking towards it but did not feel anything around her. After a moment of confusion, she realized she was on land again. She kept walking to the house. She hoped that there will be a nice person to send her home and not a monster who will eat her. O how she wished for Mars to be here. He would save her from any monster.
She had reached the porch of the house. It was a nice comfy house painted in red and white with same drawings of black here and there. It was very sunny near the house. She went to knock on the door but it swung open before she could touch it. With curiosity flooding her mind, she went in and looked around. It was a hallway but very dim. She thought she saw something move on the other corner and ran towards it. There was a shadow that would appear in the corner but then disappear. She would follow it but it would just disappear. She noticed that suddenly, it was night outside the house. She didn’t give it any thought and kept following the shadow. The white curtains were fluttering and a strong breeze was flowing through the many windows. The moonlight was shining in through the huge windows and if she had looked out, she would have seen that the moon was much bigger than the one she sees from her window. Suddenly she came across a huge hall that had nice candles all around, their flames flickering. The room was in her favorite colors, red and black. The moonlight gave the walls a blue hue. She soon smelt a nice scent. Chocolate. She looked in the center of the hall, where -out of nowhere a table had appeared that had bowls of fruits and cakes on it. By now, she had not felt hunger but now, she was starving. She went towards it to see that there was a large bowl of molten chocolate. She looked around and saw a sink to wash hands. She quickly washed her hands. She went back to the table and searched for a spoon. But there was not even a single spoon. Her mother had never let her eat without a spoon. So, she decided to try it and dipped one small finger in the chocolate and licked it. It was better than any she tasted by now. Suddenly, there were footsteps coming from behind a door. The doors opened to reveal a small boy of her age. He smiled at her. He had piercing blue eyes and soft and shiny black hair. He moved to her and pulled a chair beside her and sat on it. He then said to her in a sweet voice and a friendly tone,
“Hello. No one has come here to meet me ever. Thank you for coming here. Will you be my friend?”
She looked at him. he reminded her of Mars. She smiled and took a strawberry from the bowl and offered it to him. he lifted her wrist a little bit and bit the strawberry while it was still in her hand. She smiled and ate the rest of it. Her friend, it felt nice to call him that, then dipped one end of a long slice of mango in chocolate and brought it to her mouth. She held his hand with both of her and took a smile bite of the mango. He smiled at her again and fed her a small piece of watermelon. This went on for hours. They would just feed each other and smile more brightly. Until their stomachs were filled to the brim. She realized that the bowls were still filled with fruits and cakes. And the chocolate was also as it was, filled up to the brim. She asked her friend,
“Why are the bowls still full?”
“Because they provide endless amounts of food and keep filling on themselves.”
“But why?”
“So that my beautiful enchantress will not go hungry.”
He replied with a nice smile on his face. She smiled but then remembered about her parents and brother. Until now, she did not have even a single thought about them. It was as if she and her friend were the only people in the whole world.
“I want to go back.”
“But why?”
He asked with his lips in a frown and tears in his eyes. The wind coming in from the outside was now too strong and the candle flames were flickering. She felt a weird pain in her chest at the sight of his tears and wanted to stay there. But she had to go back or her mommy will be upset.
“Because my mama will be waiting for me. My papa is looking for me. My brother must be sad. And my Mars will be missing me.”
When she said that, he glowed up again. The wind calmed down and the candle flames were now normal.
“Follow me.”
With that he led her out. Once outside the gate. He wrapped his arms around and started crying. She also felt like crying. She hugged him back and started crying as well. They kept crying for a long time when he slowly asked her in her ear,
“Will you come back?”
“I want to. But I don’t know how to.”
“Don’t worry. No matter what, you will find your way back to me.”
With that, he separated just enough to give her a small kiss on her cheek and then hugged her back. But as soon as he did that, her vision began to blur and started falling unconscious. The last thing that she remembered was her friend saying,
I Will. Always. Be. There. For. You. And. Only. For. You.
Lovers’ separation is like a hangover. Hurts a lot. But reminds that they had a great time together.
