I started my GED classes and I was really having fun, I was also getting to know the other people in my classes and they were all pretty nice to me. they were mostly young girls who had gotten pregnant and then dropped out of school. although there were a few men and women very in ages who had for one reason or another needed to get their ged. my teacher Mr Klein was a bald older man who wore sweater vests and bow ties all the time. he was always telling corny jokes and he thought he was so funny. he was what I thought a grandfather would look and act like. although I knew nothing about my grandparents on either side of my family because they had died before I was born. I had homework last night and I really didn't have a hard time completing my work because I'd always been a fast learner. I had gone around to any place that I could find that was hiring, I was desperate to find a job and I didn't care where I worked. that night at home Carl came into the den where I was looking up some stuff on the internet. hey AJ are you still looking for a job? he asked as he walked into the room. yes I am I have been everywhere putting in applications and I still haven't had any luck, I replied. well today might be your lucky day. I talked to my publicist today and she said that she needed someone to help her out in the office I told her about you and she wants you to come into her office in the morning for an interview, he said with a smile. I was so excited finally a job and I could make money of my own and get a divorce. thank you so much Carl you are a lifesaver, I said it's no problem I think you will love working for her, she is really easy going, he said as he handed me a piece of paper that had all the information that I needed 4:00 in the morning. I signed off the computer and went upstairs and looked through my closet for something to look good enough for an interview. I really wanted to make a good impression on Carl's publicist because I really needed a job and this would so be flipping burgers or waiting tables. I found a gray pair of dress slacks and a white sweater I also set out a white pair of pumps and a gray pair of knee-highs I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and washed my face and slipped into my pajamas then tossed my dirty clothes into my laundry hamper, which was now full so I was going to have to do laundry tomorrow afternoon. I crawled into bed and picked up a book off my nightstand that I've gotten out of the den. it was a murder mystery and it sounded like a really good book from what I had read on the back. after reading the first chapter my eyes got heavy and I put it back on my nightstand and switched out my light. I awoke to my alarm going off at 7:00 a.m. and reached over and shut it off. I threw back my covers and made my way to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face and went back into the bedroom to get dressed. I carefully put my hair and eat bun and put on a little makeup on my eyes and lips. I slipped on my shoes, and grab my purse and headed downstairs. Joy was just coming in the front door as I was headed downstairs. good morning Joy how was your night? I asked. she smiled at me, good as always, she said. are you excited about your interview? she asked. actually yes and I am nervous too. I want to make a good impression because I really want this job, I replied. you will do fine I'm sure of it, she said. well I'm going to grab some breakfast before I head out, I said as I headed into the kitchen. okay I will see you later, she replied as you headed upstairs. I went into the kitchen and fixed a cup of coffee and some toast with jelly. I sat down at the table enjoying my little breakfast with Carl coming into the kitchen for his morning cup of coffee on his way to his home office. so are you ready for your interview? he asked. I am, I said as I looked up and smiled at him. well you will do great you're practically a shoe in for the job anyway, he said with a grand. well I'm off I will let you know how it goes, I said as I stood up to put my dishes in the dishwasher. I drove into town to the publishers office and parked the car in the parking lot I grabbed my purse and headed into the building. I stepped into a nice little office that was decorated in old western decor. there was no one at the front desk when I walked in but, there was an office to the right hand that had its door open. a younger looking brown haired woman appeared in the doorway of the office. hi can I help you? she asked smiling at me. hi my name is AJ and I'm supposed to have a job interview today, a smiled back. oh well my name is Mary williams, she replied. come on into my office, she said as she walked back into her office and sat down behind her huge out desk. have a seat, she said she's gesture to the leather chairs opposite of her desk. I sat down and set my purse in the other chair next to me. So, AJ Carl tells me that you need a job and that you're very dependable and a hard worker, Mrs Williams said. I smiled and blushed a little because I couldn't believe that Carl would give me such a good word. I try really hard to be, I said. well that's wonderful, she said and then she shocked me with what she asked next. can you start now?. I was so shocked and I was speechless. yes I can start now if that is what you need me to do, I tried to sound confident instead of sounding like a bundle of nerves that I really was. awesome that works perfect for me, she smiled at me.
