The cool wind aroused Merena; soon, she lifted her head, and the vice embrace grew. “Stay still. We’re almost at my place,” related Dallas. Her hand patted his talon then the smell of saltwater overtook her senses. The cliffs on one side and the sea on the other with the moonlight made an idea scene. Soon she rested on dirt; as she scanned her surroundings, a cave came into view. Her eyes followed the bird as it stepped over her body then he transformed. The colors of the transformation held her attention while he went from gyverian to human form. Before long, a tall, white-haired lean athletic man stood in front of her with a gentle smile. His golden-brown eyes mesmerized her into a silence. “How could they do this to you?” asked Dallas. “Obsessed…,” muttered Merena. “Not a reason,” remarked Dallas while he carried her as if she weighed nothing. “I know…,” whispered Merena. “I will make a warm bath, food, and bed for you,” stated Dallas. “I’m glad… you saw… me…” said Merena. “I am glad, also. I will get you better,” conveyed Dallas. “Thank you…,” whispered Merena. “I will get rid of this,” said Dallas, then he threw the necklace aside. He squatted with his back toward her while the fire grew in intensity. Without a thought, she closed her eyes and took in as much air as her lungs allowed. Even so, the image of his nude body came to her mind. When she opened her eyes, he donned a revealing white robe that revealed his torso and legs. Immediately, red came to her cheeks, and he noticed the hue in her face. “Is that from illness or me?” questioned Dallas while he walked toward her. Instantly, her eyes round, then the eyelashes lowered as he sat on the bed beside her. His fingers smoothed strands of hair away from her face, and her lips slightly curved. While she stared at him, her throat moved several times, and his hand halted on her cheek. “Don’t worry. I won’t do what they did,” reassured Dallas with a gentle baritone voice as if he talked to a child. “Alright…,” whispered Merena. With two buckets in hand, he disappeared further into the cave's interior. He poured water inside a tub suspended by blocks over a portion of the fire. “It won’t take long for the water to heat up,” stated Dallas. “Thank you… for everything…,” muttered Merena. “While you’re in the tub, I’ll finish your medicine, the food, and drinks,” conveyed Dallas. “Thank you…,” whispered Merena. After water filled the tub, he lifted her bare body from the bed then positioned her inside the bath. “What I’m making for you will help you sleep,” reported Dallas. “Alright…,” said Merena. “I’m done. Are you ready?” asked Dallas. “Yes…,” answered Merena. After she answered him, he gracefully walked over and lifted her from the water. Soon her body rested on top of a towel then he smoothed it over her until she was dried. He placed his hand on her forehead, and his lips curved. “It seems what they gave you helped some. It won’t be long until your well,” conveyed Dallas. “Good…,” whispered Merena, then her stomach made a grievance. “Hungry,” said Dallas. “I guess…,” giggled Merena as her cheeks turned a different color. “You like changing colors,” retorted Dallas. “Sorry…,” replied Merena. “Get done eating. Take the medicine and get some rest. I will sleep with you, so you don’t get cold,” conveyed Dallas. “Alright…,” remarked Merena. After he gave her the medicine, her head rested on the pillow, and he joined her under the covers. Both of them breathed together. Meanwhile, back in the hunter encampment, Terrence rode back and noticed the agitated state of Geoff. “What has happened?” asked Terrence. “Someone stole Merena,” answered Geoff. “Do you have any ideas?” questioned Terrence. “We followed the trail until it turned into a clawed trail then disappeared,” responded Geoff. “Could it be? Avianthrope. A thunderbird. I thought they all were dead,” muttered Terrence. “I know. Fascinating. We will have to try keeping them alive,” commented Geoff. “Yes. They will be worth a lot,” remarked Terrence. “It’s been 50 years since one has been seen,” said Geoff. “Long time,” stated Terrence. “We’ll leave since you’re here,” commanded Geoff.                                                                                                                                                                                           Ω             A moan came from Merena while her cheek rubbed the pillow and her eyes fluttered open. “How long did I sleep?” asked Merena. “I’ve made you drink the medicine. Other than that, you’ve slept 2 days,” answered Dallas. “That’s what my body had to have,” whispered Merena. “Yes. You lost the temperature,” indicated Dallas. “Yes. I feel warmer,” remarked Merena. “Here’s a robe for you,” said Dallas. “What kind of material is it?” asked Merena. “Soft. It’s satin. The gold trim doesn’t scratch either,” answered Dallas. “I like it, but it makes my body sensitive. It’s embarrassing,” related Merena with a blush. “It’s a body’s natural reaction,” replied Dallas. “I guess, but you can see my body react,” stated Merena. “Are you sore from what happened?” questioned Dallas. “Yes. I owe you. I know it could have been worse,” responded Merena. Quickly, her arms encircled his waist, and her chest pressed against his torso. Right after, he cleared his throat as his body reacted to her aroma and the softness of her. “You should stop. You don’t know what you’re doing to me,” commented Dallas. “I’m sorry. I’m thankful for what you’ve done,” remarked Merena. “Stop, please. If you continue, I won’t be able to stop myself,” stated Dallas. “I owe you,” whispered Merena, her hand caressed his torso. Soon he grasped her shoulders, and she took a step backward from his gentle shove. His lips touched her forehead. “Don’t get me wrong, I would gladly take your offer, but it isn’t time. They took a lot away from you,” conveyed Dallas. “Alright. Thank you,” whispered Merena. “Don’t take it as I’m rejecting you. I would really like to be with you right now. But you need time,” expressed Dallas. His lips touched her mouth then his tongue gently parted her lips and invaded the depths. “Mmmm,” muttered Merena. “I better stop before it goes further,” stated Dallas with a sultry tone. “Are you sure? He said I should show how thankful I am,” related Merena. “No. I’m not sure. But for now, the thank you is enough. As long as you stop,” responded Dallas. “I don’t mind being with you,” conveyed Merena. “You are making this hard to stop. You are beautiful, rare, and sweet. I want you more than you think,” said Dallas. “You should remember you’re rare. There are few avianthrope here in Zandor,” stated Merena. “You pleading with me makes it harder to turn you down,” remarked Dallas. “In that case,” said Merena, soon both robes opened, and her chest touched his torso. “You know your body is a weapon,” growled Dallas as he felt both bodies react. His chin rested on her soft hair while he breathed in and out her fragrance. Without a second thought, his hands moved on their own over the soft skin of her back and derriere. Her hands slid between their bodies then moved over their skin, and he moaned. Without hesitation, her feet rose from the floor, then her legs wrapped around his waist. A few strides placed their bodies on the bed then his tongue invaded her mouth with a hungry fierceness. He positioned his leg between her thighs as the passionate kiss continued. They moaned into each other’s mouths. His lips departed and blazed a trail over her body. Soon his forehead rested on her breastbone, and he growled. “I have to remember what he put you through and stop,” stated Dallas even though his hands roamed over her body. “I don’t want to feel his touch anymore,” beseeched Merena, eyes wide open when he looked at her. “Later. When you’ve had time,” conveyed Dallas. “You want me. I can feel you do,” remarked Merena. “That is right, but it can wait. Give yourself some time,” said Dallas. “Alright,” whispered Merena.  “I need to collect myself, then we can talk about changelings. I can teach you what I know,” reported Dallas. “That would be nice,” commented Merena. He rolled off her then rested on his elbow. She gripped a strand of his hair with a curve of her lips then twirled it between her fingers.  “You can marry more than 1 person. There is one regulation, you marry henkan only. That rule is to help with the lack of changelings, and other low numbered henkan. There’s a rule against taking on another person’s form for changelings. Safety reasons, of course. Anything else?’ conveyed Dallas. “Not that I can think of,” responded Merena.
