Chapter 2

1015 Words
After a long journey, we reached the camp site. The bus stops at the end of the road. There is the sign board saying you have reached Krystal Lakeside. I stir in my sleep and realize that Miss Grace is calling for our attention. “Ok students here we are at Krystal Lakeside. What I want you to do is everyone must set up the tents together. You must not wander around the woods alone and do not do something funny here. Understand?” She is quite protective. Of course she is, who would want to responsible for our well-being if one of us missing or maybe… dead. I shook my head, brushing all the bad thoughts that could happen to us in this wood. Miss Grace assign us to different tasks. Me and Jane is paired to go get water from the lake. The others are setting the tents. Ladies as usual need to cook for everyone. “Hey, let’s go get the water quickly.” Jane stands beside me. “I don’t want us getting lost in the woods. Not like I’m scared but who knows what creatures could be out there.” I laugh at hearing her talking like that. This tough girl here really could have sense of fear for a bit. I walk with her to find the lake together. Our steps are furthering from the camping site. Jane could not stop talking to fill in the silence. I just listen to her talking about her crush James starts to talk to her. She is a beauty herself. Tall and brunette. Boys at the school are all interested in her since she is also the softball captain. I felt little compared to her. I am petite and have blonde hair reaching to my waist. I do not talk much and barely made friends with the kids at school. “Kayla, about your nightmares…” Jane take a glance at me before continuing talking. “You do know that vampires do not exist right. Maybe you have a lot on your mind that made you dream things like that.” Jane squeeze my hands. “I know. That is why I’m joining this camp with you. But, it feels so real Jane. I would always wake up in screaming and drenched in sweat as if I have been running a lot.” I sigh thinking about the nights that I encountered. “It is okay. We will figure it out how to help you forget the dreams.” Jane comforts me soothing my back. We halt our steps when we see the crystal clear water in the lake. No wonder it is named Krystal. The water is very clear and blue. Jane and I take out the bottles and fill it with the water as much as we could. My eyes wander around the trees behind us. The sudden chills creep me out. Why does it feel familiar for me feeling like this. There is like someone watching us from far. Maybe the boys try to put a prank for us. I turn my body to look at the figure once again. I swear if they did that I will cook super spicy food and let them suffer stomach ache. Jane notice my trembling hands. “Kayla, what’s wrong?” Her eyes averted to my direction of the trees. “I just feel someone’s watching us.” My eyes still staring between the trees. “Kayla, you scared me. Let’s back to the camping site okay.” Jane grabs my hand and we return to the camping site quickly. The tents are already set up. Some of the students also come back after collecting the twigs to make bonfire. Me and Jane gives the water at the girls who prepare the cooking. Time pass so fast and it is already growing dusk when we finished our task. Miss Grace remind us that tonight activity would be entertainment. There will be singing and dancing. I could not wait for it as I love dancing so much. Tonight will be awesome and I am pretty sure that Jane and the others are ready swaying their hips. “I love when Miss Grace handling this camping trip. You see, she has this kind of high fun spirit. I heard those who wants to sing already chooses their songs!” Jane is so excited and her smile grows wider when Alex will be singing tonight. Everyone has already taken their sits, circling the bonfire lit in front of us. Alex sings the first song while his friends play the guitars. We clap following the rhyme of the song and starts dancing. Jane pulls my hand and we begin swaying our hips. I laugh hard when we dance. I have not done this for long. This excitement actually does not last long when we heard a loud scream. All of us turn our head to the voice. It is Leya who looks awful pale and blood is dripping from her neck to her shirt. I gasp looking at it. Everyone panic and start screaming when she faints and her body drops on the floor. “Kids, please calm down. Come, someone please help me to take Leya inside the tent.” Just when we start to move to Leya’s body, there are somebody else showing theirselves between the trees. Glaring their lustful eyes and I could see their teeth. I blink my eyes to see they are fangs. Who the hell are they. My breathing becomes shallow. They are the same from my nightmares. They are looking for prey and that is why Leya comes with blood on her neck. Everything connects fast in my complicated mind. “Vampires.” I gasp. Covering my mouth with the trembling hands. This cannot be real. My chest tightened and tears forming in my eyes. “Run! Run before he catches you.” The same voice echoes in my mind again.
