Earlier, Xu Baili decided to risk it, he already knew the path that will be given to him once he arrives at the Yun Clan's territory, he'll be able to marry, but his life will only be filled with nothing but servitude.
As a past top-grade assassin and one of the greatest magicians in their previous life, of course, they couldn't really accept such fate.
Xu Baili started to walk towards the direction the voice was calling him from.
Soon, he arrived in a place that looked like an abandoned shrine inside a rundown courtyard. It's just a place outside the walls of the Xu Clan, he didn't expect for something like this to be here.
But seeing the surrounding, it's not really weird for it to had gone unnoticed, it's surrounded by the walls, trees blocking people from the outside to see the shrine. Even then, as a clan member, it's weird to have noticed it and he just assumed that these trees were planted from the neighbor's side.
"This place is..." He had lived here for 14 years already, yet, he had never seen nor heard of this place before.
He looked at the Xu Clan's grand hall and noticed that the whole Pagoda doesn't have any windows facing this side, it's like it's deliberately made to hide this very place.
It's an 8x1 meter long courtyard, and by looking at the surrounding, he can assume that the walls were made to make it look like it's part of the clan so that when people look from outside, it looks like it's not a separate place.
But then again, it would still be weird if this place wasn't seen after so many years had passed. He had read that the Xu Clan was
"Well, isn't it grand?" The voice spoke with a calm mocking tone: "Well, don't just stand there, come on in."
Of course, Xu Baili looked around, but he couldn't really see any entrance.
But as they were looking left and right, something flew in their direction, a complicated reaction happened within Xu Baili. Half of his body tried to jump up, while the other half tried to stay down.
It resulted in him, not being able to do anything at all. At this, the voice chuckled and spoke: "I thought as much."
"Since the two of you were degraded so much till you thought you couldn't cultivate, the both of you didn't even try to do so."
"But still, only having four hours of sleep a day because the two of you shared a body, it's quite a surprise, but still, a mortal's body has a limit, hence, the two of you spend two days every week to rest properly."
"One uses his time to study everything he can know about, while the other, trained his physical body to the limits of his body's age."
"Truly, if the two of you didn't do this, I would've initiated a conversation with you when you were four."
A long sigh escaped his mouth before he continued once more: "Now then, enter." As the voice finished, a blue looking glass appeared in front of Xu Baili, it slowly opened as the light inside slowly assaulted his eyes.
Xu Baili blocked his eyes with his arms till the light diminished.
Soon, he looked in front of him, and what he saw is a rather plain-looking palace made out of some sort of colorful wood, although it's not really that much,
"Well, come in, don't let me wait." The voice spoke once more with another chuckle.
Xu Baili frowned: "We didn't agree to anything yet."
The voice chuckled once more before he asked: "I won't mind you rejecting me, but I know you really can't do so."
"After all, I can give you something that you so dearly wished for."
Xu Baili frowned: "And what is that?"
The voice laughed before replying in a playful manner: "Well, aren't you a surprise, you yourself rather, selves already know what you want."
"Power, strength, a way to protect your loving mother that took care of you for fourteen years."
The voice stopped for a moment before he slowly continued: "I will say it again, I am not forcing you, you can decide to just walk away, I won't mind."
"But... if you decide on something else, feel free to walk inside."
"Either way, I can always just wait for another couple of thousands of years."
Xu Baili frowned, but after a while, he shook his head. Argus could study cultivation all life long, but for some reason, he couldn't really cultivate.
He also found out that before you cultivate, you need one thing as a basic, and that is your cultivation arts. The cultivation arts are to be used to compliment your soul container, enabling you to cultivate spiritual energy.
But that's all there is, his soul container is called "Chaotic Elemental Soul Container" and based on what he had read about, the ones possessing this soul container can be no more than a mortal, most of those that had it basically becomes a mortal or at most, become a very weak cultivator after a fortuitous encounter.
No one had ever managed to cultivate the soul container into a higher realm.
Hence, he then studied further, but to his annoyance, the kingdom they are in is rather a small one, and there are also other kingdoms out there, but everything else is limited.
If he wants to go to another kingdom, he'll at least need a low-tier Spirit stone or 500 gold coins, which is something they do not have.
Hence, he clenched both of his fists and took his step forward: "I hope I won't regret this decision."
Their whole body was then wrapped up by a warm light as then he was sucked in by the mirror door.
Soon, as they arrived inside, the voice sounded, tone as he had already expected it: "Good choice." The voice sounded as the gate of the castle opened to welcome them, it then instructed: "Go in."
