Amanda stood frozen for a moment, her heart pounding in her chest as Ethan entered the kitchen. His unexpected appearance caught her off guard, and she wondered if he had overheard her conversation with her father. The uncertainty weighed on her mind, but she pushed it aside, focusing on the task at hand.
"Ethan," she greeted, trying to mask the surprise in her voice. He approached her, the subtle fragrance of his cologne filling the air.
Amanda couldn't help but notice the way his eyes held a mixture of pain and curiosity.
"Wha.. what are you doing here? You're supposed to be.."
