CHAPTER 2

1443 Words
Kathy's POV As soon as I lifted my hands into the air, Derek held my arm and quicky hit the piece of bottle away from my hand, the he slapped me again and pushed me to the ground. "What the f**k is wrong with you Kathy? Are you planning to kill someone? Huh?" He sparked and wrapped a bedsheet around his waist then hopped down from the bed. I could not believe this. My own legally married husband attacking me because of what? I felt like a piece of garbage a trash that was about to be incinerated. "Look, we're going to talk about this another day, but for now, just get your f*****g ass off my apartment!" I had seen enough for the day, so I left the room, tears still flowing down my eyes. I have always been the one paying for the house rentage, I was literally taking care of Derek as he had no job. But the table had just turned upside down. What a fool I…. "Drop the car keys. If you take the car with you, I will not take it easy on you." Derek threatened. I quickly went to the visitor's room where I sometimes sleep if I am sick or when Derek and I have a misunderstanding. There, I picked a few of my clothes, put them in a bag and I took a few debit cards that would sustain me to book a hotel. All the while, I couldn't stop myself from crying and sobbing. Finally, I took my phones and was about to leave when I stumbled upon a framed picture. It was my wedding picture. Our wedding picture. On this day, 2 years ago, tears of joy and happiness flowed as my husband broke the trait of singleness in my life. We got married on this very day. I was all pumped and ready for this anniversary, but I was a fool. A big fool to have thought that a man would give his One Hundred Percent to a woman. That book was a f*****g fantasy. I took the image and shattered it on the floor, letting the pieces scatter everywhere. Unfortunately, one of the pieces pierced into my leg and blood came out a bit. But I didn't bother. I could not feel pain any longer. It was just me and my possessions making it out of the house and shutting the door behind us; promising never to return again. °°°°°°°°°°°°°° It was 9:15 pm at night. I had been walking unconsciously for a few minutes now. I could not not hear the sounds of the few cars that drove past me. Neither did it occur to me that I had been walking on a lonely road for quite some time now. Many thoughts ran through my mind. The picture just wasn't clear to me. Was Chloe using some witch powers to control Derek's mind? How long had that thing be happening? What other things was Derek hiding from me? It was not until my phone beeped that I was able to drift my attention back to reality. I knew that no matter what had happened, I needed to finally face the truth. My husband cheated and drove me away from the house. It was up to me to move on and accept my fate. Or maybe not. Maybe I don't need to accept my fate. Maybe I may need to change it. To fight it. I knew deep down that I would have to kill Chloe to get peace of mind. Chloe and Derek! "Hello ma'am. This is the drive you ordered. I'm at the agreed location. Can you please describe yourself so I can see you?" The driver spoke from the other end. Suddenly, before I could give a reply, three masked men parked a clean black SUV right in front of me. They grabbed my phones my purse and stripped me of every single thing on me. Leaving me with just the debit card I slot into my bra for a reason I still can't tell and my shoes which j purchased two week ago. I fought hard to retain my properties. "Give those back to me you motherfuckers. They belong to me!" I tried dragging with them, but one of the guys used his pistol and hit the back of my head, making me fall to the ground, moaning in pain. Right under my nose, the three guys got into their car and sped off! It all happened so fast. I was robbed of all my possessions and left stranded in this cold, lonely street. My tears increased. I learnt during my teaching practice that in some African countries, people blamed the evil spirits for bad happenings. Maybe this was an evil spirit. Maybe my ancestors were mad at me for a reason. But I had not offended anyone to deserve this pain. First, I was robbed off my joy, then my marriage, then a close friend, and now this? "God!" I cried and picked myself up. I walked to a bench almost under a street light, then I sat down there. Waiting for the next bad thing to happen. Gradually, I dozed off! °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° "Hello ma'am." "Hello Mrs. Are you okay?" "Hello Mrs. It's dangerous out here. You need to get up." I heard a muffled voice calling out to me from somewhere. Was it my dream? Or was it… The hand tapped on my shoulder and I suddenly sprang up. "Sorry to disturb you, but you really need to leave her Mrs. It's not so safe out here!" I looked up the person talking. It was a young guy. A teen adult probably in his early 20's. I squinted my eyes to be able to see clearer, but I couldn't. So, I squeezed my hand against my eyes and then stood up. "Who are you?" I asked immediately. "Just a random person. I found you sitting out here alone. You shouldn't be out here alone. It's dangerous." The guy said. I looked at his properly and was finally able to see him. He was indeed young. Definitely younger than me. But he looked hot. He was f*****g handsome. Even in the dark, I could see his face glowing. His pink lips complimented his smooth skin. His hair was as dark as it could be. It was not just dark, but reflective. It was glittering. His jawlines were just so perfect. His perfume struck me. It made me sick. Lovesick. Asides his facial appearance, his dressing told another story. He was rich. His gold chains, the wrist watch he wore, his shoes….. Who could this handsome, young man be? I asked myself. "I'm.. I'm fine. Thanks for your care. I was just heading home!" I said and began to walk away in the opposite direction. "But Mrs. That's a dead end. There's obviously no passage there." He called out to me. Why the heck did he even address me as 'Mrs'? Oh. I was wearing a ring. I stood there, not wanting to spill out anything. But it was evident. I was confused. I was sure that at this point, he must have suspected that something wasn't right. "Are you sure you're okay? Do you not have a home? You know, you could come sleep over at my place tonight. Tomorrow, I can help you find your way!" I looked at him, and then I looked at the road behind me. I was stranded, broke and broken. I would have gone to my parents house, but they lived miles away from us. And Nora -Derek's mom? I vowed to never have anything to do with her again. I could not even think of returning back to my wretched husband, ex husband. He was probably still with that blonde girl, enjoying sensual pleasure. I was left with no choice than to indulge. She knew what these types of guys wanted. s*x! They would go about on the street looking for ladies to f**k. "Look, I'm grateful you want to help. But I'll need to make sure you promise not to pull up any silly games on me, young man. Because it won't be funny." I was able to say. "You have my word! Nothing is gonna happen. I promise." He said and led me to his car. I was in a stranger's car going to an unknown destination. Who was this guy? Can I even trust him?
