Only You
The silence after my words stretched between us like a held breath. Lily stared down at me, her blue eyes wide with surprise but not shock. My heart pounded so hard I could feel it in my throat. I had done it. I had actually asked her to kiss me.
“Kiss me, Lily,” I whispered again, my voice trembling. “Please.”
She didn’t move away. Instead, she slowly leaned closer, her dark hair falling like a curtain around us. Her breath brushed my lips.
“Just a kiss?” she asked softly, searching my face.
I nodded, barely able to speak. “Yes… please.”
Lily closed the small distance and pressed her lips to mine in a gentle, quick kiss. It was soft and warm, over too fast. My eyes fluttered open, already craving more.
