Chapter8

-Lilian's Pov-

I woke up with a splitting headache, my throat felt sore and my tongue was bitter. I squinted my eyes at the brightness that was shining above my head and moved my head slowly to the side.

I saw the familiar faces that I had seen for the past few hours now.

So it wasn't all a dream? And everything that has happened was real?

The room was bigger than the first room I woke up in, I could see a walk-in closet at the side of the room, and a bathroom door that was slightly opened, the light from the chandelier that had almost blinded me.

Where was this place?

"You are awake. "One of the twins said, I stared at him for a while, what was his name again?

Aldrich?

"Do you feel any pains or discomfort?"He went on to ask. I shook my head, I didn't feel any pain.

"Where am I?"I voiced out my thoughts.

"At the palace. "He answered with a soft smile, and when he reached out to touch me, I moved away from his reach.

"I wasn't gonna hurt you, "He exhaled and stared at his brother, they exchanged glances and it seemed as if they were mind-linking.

Was I acting strange?

"And you need to stop saying sorry for every little thing, nobody is gonna hurt you here. In here you have authority over anything and anyone. "He placed his elbow on the bed and rested his jaw on his hand while waiting for my blank reaction.

"What's your name?"He decided to change the tactics, I blinked my eyes at him and then cast a glance at his brother pacing around the room. Aldrich's face was close to me, and it made me feel quite uncomfortable.

"I already told you, I'm Aldrich Harrison and that's my brother."

I couldn't speak coherently when he was this close to me but I couldn't push him away, it's strange how I was finding comfort in some strangers.

The lingering anxiety I felt was eased by their presence.

Arsenio stopped pacing and scooted over to the bed, he sat at the other side, and just like his brother kept a close distance from me.

"What's your name?"He repeated the question Aldrich had asked.

"Lilian. "I forced the words out of my mouth. That was the only thing I remember at that time, my name.

"You have a pretty name, "Arsenio commented, and Aldrich simply withdrew from me. Did he sense that I wasn't comfortable with how close he was? I could feel the warmth from his body.

"This room was meticulously prepared for you Princess Lilian."Arsenio grinned and went on.

"Your parents who are our Alpha and Luna prepared this room for you over the years, and it has been kept cleaned by the servants in the palace."

"This was all mine?"I found it hard to believe that I was brought to the palace after I told them that I wasn't the one they were looking for and that they might have gotten the wrong person.

"You don't believe me, do you? But that's the truth, "Arsenio smirked, and Aldrich huffed, facing the wall and saying nothing.

"This is our Pack and we are the Beta of the Alpha King and when you become Queen Luna. We'll be your Beta."

If everything he was saying was true that meant my parents were alive, and I wasn't abandoned.

How come I ended up with Alpha Jenkins, I would have stayed with them and should have never gone through all that.

I heard giggling behind Aldrich, and three girls were standing beside the door.

"Those are the servants in the palace, and they will personally attend to you."

"They have a name."I snapped at Arsenio.

"I guess they do. "He mumbled and stood up from the bed, the girls stepped forward, and their faces were lit up with smiles, and they talked about how happy they were on my arrival at the palace.

I found out through them that I had been unconscious for two days, and they shared stories behind the ornaments in the room, and how it was decorated in summer, the period when I had gone missing.

I listened to everything they said and still found it hard to believe that this was where I belonged.

A knock on the door distracted us, and Aldrich went to get it.

A servant came with a report.

"The Alpha King's condition has worsened, and he requested to see his daughter, that he might be close to death. "She announced.

The atmosphere in the room changed and everyone's countenance fell.

"We'll take you to him. "The twins said at the same time and glared at each other afterward.

I stood up from the bed, I was dressed in comfortable clothes though they looked quite expensive.

"Come with us."I followed them out of the room, and we hurried along the hallway to the King's quarters.

The Alpha King of the werewolf country.

Alpha Nicholas Smith, the man who was said to be my father.

A woman came out of a room and met us in the hallway. My eyes went over her, and I froze for a moment, the blurred face in my dreams became clearer as I saw her.

She was the woman I saw in my dreams.

"That's Luna. The Queen, Emily Smith."Arsenio whispered beside my ears.

She stopped walking and stared at me. We held each other's gaze for a moment too long, she looked away with her eyes filled with tears and hurried out of the hallway.

I held a puzzled frown on my face, why would she react that way towards me, the daughter she hadn't seen for the past decade? A guard was standing outside the King's door. "Princess. "He bowed at me.

"Welcome back home."

I didn't know what to say, I simply bowed as well. He opened the door of the bedroom, and I stepped inside.

The twins didn't come in but stood outside with the guard.

He was on the bed, his eyes were half closed, and seeing him cough was too painful to watch.

It was at this moment I realized those weren't dreams but some part of the memories that I lost.

The couple I saw were my parents, and they were the ones in front of me.

"My daughter... "He managed to say, I blinked the tears away from my eyes and dragged my feet to the bed.

He stretched out his arms, and I fell into it.

"I'm glad you came home unscathed, I'm happy that I'm seeing you again, even at this moment. I will take this precious memory with me to eternity, and I will always remember you, my daughter. "His voice was weak, and Mom clasped her hand over his, she squeezed it gently and sniffed.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't find you all those years. I searched everywhere I could until I was stricken with sickness and could no longer continue my search. "His shaky hands stroked my hair affectionately, and I didn't lean too much on his weak body.

"Bring in Philip's sons. "He called out to the guard and the door opened. The twins came in and bowed before him.

"I want to thank you for bringing my daughter back home, and I want you to fully support and protect the princes. It's an order from your King. You must ensure my daughter's future happiness. "He stated in a final tone.

"Yes, Alpha King."

He took his gaze back at me, "How could I not recognize my daughter, I have been waiting for this moment when I will reunite with you again. "His fingers lingered on my face, and he brushed the tears that slipped out of my eyes.

"I will always love you. "Those were his last words before his hand fell from my face.

I clutched tightly to his hand and brought it to my chest, and memories of my father flashed through me.

I shook my head, denying the fact that he had just left me.
