Dan and I left the room and went towards the garage so he can start practicing and stuff. The song that he played before was beyond amazing. I think that song was by Twenty Øne Pilots but I don't remember. I sat in one of the beach chairs next to some dude who had brown spiky hair, and giant dimples on his face. He looked at me and greeted me.
"Hello! I'm Caspar." He extended his hand towards me and I gladly shook it.
"Phil." I simply said. "You a friend of theirs?"
"Haha close enough. That's my boyfriend." He said pointing at the guitarist.
"Joe's your boyfriend! What are all of them gay?" I asked and he laughed.
"Well from what I know of Dan's bi and Alfie's straight." He explained making me stare wide-eyed at Dan. He's really bi?, I thought to myself.
"Well then." I laughed out. "How long you and Joe have been together?"
"A year since yesterday." He explained and I smiled.
"That's so cute!" I exclaimed and he laughed and blushed.
"Okay!" We heard Chris said into the mic. "This song is by Greek Fire and it'a called 'Top of the World'!" He said into the mic and we watched as they started.
Dan was hitting the drum slowly during the verse then picked up during the pre-chorus and basically lost it during the chorus.
"On top of the world, on top of it all, trying to feel invincible
I'm dying on top of the world."
I sighed and then looked at the others. The guitarist, Joe, was killing the guitar with epic melodies. The bassist, Alfie, was calm and cool as he strummed his bass. Chris sang his heart out, and Dan just kept banging in the drums.
When it ended I gave a slow clap and stood up. Since rehearsal was over I could just go back to my dorm room. As I walked down the pathway, I looked at the end of the street to see if there was a tunnel to the tube but no. I guess the next tunnel has to be a few miles out. The clouds started to roll in gray colors towards me and I sighed. I did my walk of shame back into the mansion and saw the whole band and Caspar sitting at the couch in the living room.
"Where'd you go, Lester?" Joe asked and I just sighed.
"Oh um, just - um - checking if I could walk back to my dorm but I saw rain clouds rolling in and thought it wasn't such a good idea." I said kind of embarrassed since they probably don't want me here and stuff.
"Oh, no worries, mate. Hang out here a little longer." Alfie said and I looked at them.
"Oh no, that's not my place. I should go." I said ashamed.
"No, dear Phil." Chris started. "You're staying here with us until the rain stops." He stated and I sighed.
"Yeah, Phil." Joe said and all I could look at is Dan as he just shows me a faint smile from the other side of the living room as he sipped on his beer.
"I um..." I don't see the point in arguing anymore. "... okay."
We watched many horror movies and ordered some pizza. Then, night came along and it was almost midnight at this point and I had lessons the next day. Joe gave us a ride back to our university. Chris went back to his door and Dan and I walked to ours.
"So..." He started. "Does my band seem like demons that crawled out of hell or angels of the lord?" He asked and I smiled.
"Haha, well I wouldn't call them angels but they're nice people."
"That's 'cause you're new in the group."
"What group?" I asked confused as I unlock our door and head inside.
"Our group, dumbass. See I'm your roommate so I have to be a d**k to you when I can, but they're warming up to you." He explained as he collapsed back on his bed.
"Noted." I said laughing and sat on my bed, taking out my notebook.
"Why are you stubborn, Lester?" He asked and I looked at him.
"Stubborn?"
"Why don't you follow my advice and publish them? They could actually do you some good."
"They're personal." I said and he sighed.
"But it's something you love doing." He explained. "Of course they're personal. They're poems written by you, so there has to be personal stuff in it otherwise that's plagiarism or you don't have a soul."
"They're not good." I said and he scoffed.
"Bullshit!" He exclaimed and I sighed.
"Where's 'd**k Daniel'? I thought you were suppose to be mean not give me advice." I said slightly annoyed and he looked at me in disbelief.
"You believed what I said?" He said and I nodded with wide-eyes. "Fine! I'll be 'd**k Daniel' then." He said, mad and that wasn't my intention.
"Dan, I'm sorr-" I started but he cut me off.
"Save it." He said, taking off his shoes, shirt, and jeans, only wearing boxers. "Go to sleep.
Damn...
