Chris and Quax were now screeching hard along the ground, and raising dust into the air, as they slid forward, beyond the end of the vast forest.
The two of them were stopping so suddenly because they could now see a massive deep trench that cut across the ground, right in front of them.
They then quickly stopped, and stood facing forward, towards the wide trench ahead of them.
Chris stepped forward three steps and looked over the edge of the cliff, looking downwards into the endless ditch. It was so deep inside that he couldn't even see the ground, just depth and darkness.
"This trench must be what marks the border on this side of Leafoldel," Quax said.
As he was speaking, the Dwarf was now facing forward, towards the lands that lay beyond the deep trench.
