After killing the pack of six wolves that had attacked them inside the narrow path, Chris and Quax were now walking forward along the ground of the forest, quickly leaving the path with bushes at a distance behind them.
The ground where they were walking was covered by layer of dead rotten twigs and leaves. At some places, the layer was so thick that Chris thought the ground felt spongy, as he walked on top of it.
There were also other independent thick bushes that grew scattered everywhere along the ground of the vast forest, alongside patches of green grass.
The huge standing trunks of the trees were also everywhere in their surroundings.
